Several cases each year are reported where dogs are scrounging for additional food while their humans are away, accidentally turning a k**b by using their paw on an electrical or gas smoothtop range, causing household fires. The fires started when heat from the burners or parts ignited something that was left on top of the cooktop. Pets that also jump up on top of your range surface can also bump a k**b. An estimated 500,000 pets are affected annually by house fired and it is estimated that 1,000 house fires are each year are started by the homeowner's pets/ Solution/: If your pet is infamous for climbing on the range, remove the range k**bs or shield them with covers before leaving the house and try to refrain from leaving food on top of the range or counters that will tempt your pet to jump up onto the range's surface.
