Catching the last of the summer sun... safely. ⏳✨
Not all crystals love the sunshine as much as we do. Leaving the wrong stones out can cause permanent fading, dullness, or cracks.
Crystals that are sun safe:
Black Obsidian & Black Tourmaline: Their dark, dense atomic structures completely block UV pe*******on, meaning they will never bleach or lose color centers.
Carnelian & Pyrite: These iron-rich, metallic, or deeply saturated opaque minerals are highly stable and thrive in direct sunlight.
Howlite: It lacks colored pigmentations altogether, meaning there is nothing for the sun to fade out.
Sunstone, Jasper, & Agate: These are structurally tough, earth-toned, microcrystalline minerals that safely tolerate sunlight without fading or structurally drying out.
Crystals to avoid sunlight:
Ametrine, Rose Quartz, Kunzite, & Aquamarine: These stones get their brilliant hues from heat-and-light-sensitive trace elements. Leaving them in the sun will permanently bleach them into pale grey or completely clear stones.
Fluorite & Lepidolite: Extremely UV-sensitive minerals that will experience rapid color loss and surface dullness under direct solar rays.
Opal & Selenite: These minerals contain high water or moisture structures. The heat of the sun will dry them out, causing them to crack, become brittle, flake, or turn completely yellow.
Prehnite: It will lose its characteristic soft green tone and take on a faded, chalky texture if left exposed to light.
