Solder Vs Epoxy for the bell to body connection.

Some people say there is a tonal difference between a soldered connection vs an epoxy connection. I don't know if there is. I suspect that a soldered connection is stronger, but modern epoxies are also incredibly strong.
I like both, and depending on the instrument and what a musician requests, I can do either.

A common issue on Yamaha saxophones. This one requires taking most of the instrument apart.

If the bell is hit, it can break the epoxy joint holding the bell to the body. When this happens it will become misaligned from the low B and Low Bb pads. To fix this we need to reepoxy the bell to the body. I use a 2 part epoxy, and it holds up pretty well.

Clarinet care is important. If you have a wood instrument do your best to keep the wood taken care of. Oil it regularly between seasons, swab it out and consider keeping a humidity package in the case.
