Rocky Mountain Mugs 🏔️

This design is something I’ve been working on for a couple months. I have a great appreciation for the natural world, the mountains, and nature and I wanted to make a mug that reflected that. This mug is the outcome of a brainwave that I had quite some ago……..I wanted to design a mug with a mountain scene as the focal point, with a subtle pastel glaze combination that looks like the sky and clouds surrounding the mountains. I did some experimenting and the glaze combination on this mug delivered on what I imagined, and also resulted in what looks like snow capped mountains in a few areas, which I’ll take as a win. Admittedly, I had to try a few times to get this result. One attempt cracked and my glaze combination on another attempt did not turn out how I imagined. Well, apparently I’m a sucker for punishment, so after multiple failures I figured I’d try again. I’m glad I did and I’m so happy with this result.

I’ve had a few requests for this mug design, so I’m planning to make more and add them to the website soon. I’m working on some different variations as well……..I think a northern lights glaze combination surrounding the mountains would be awesome 🌌

Daydream ✨

This is still one of my favourite glaze combinations. The colors are so vibrant and pretty. Now I just need to make some more mugs in this glaze combo and update my website. It’s a work in progress (apparently I daydream too much) 😂 ⛅️💐

🌷 Is it spring yet?

🌻 Ever since I started making candles years ago, I had aspirations to make candle vessels too. Well, I’m happy to report that my dream came to life last year when I finally signed up for pottery classes after years of thinking about it. Pictured are some candles (and vessels) that I made recently.

Happy end of January everyone! ❄️

I’ve been busy at the community pottery studio in my spare time and have been loving learning more about all the things that are part of the process of creating with clay.

These are some new pieces that I’m quite pleased with. There’s a lot that goes into making a mug………from wedging the clay, throwing the vessel, trimming, attaching the handle, making sure it dries evenly, bisque firing, glazing, and then finally, the glaze firing. It’s always a good day when they turn out like these did!

Ceramics…………..if you’re anything like me, you’ve always had a weakness for handcrafted things. I’ve wanted to learn the art of wheel throwing for quite a few years, but this year I decided to finally take the plunge. Needless to say, I love it……..it’s been so much fun and I think I’ve found my new favourite creative outlet. These are some candle vessels that I made recently, filled with a Malibu Sunset scented candle.
