Well. We officially hate this.
Today is Kayla’s last day at The Sugar Cube, and while we’re incredibly excited for her next adventure, we’d also like to formally file a complaint.
It’s hard to believe she’s only been with us for just shy of two years because, honestly, it feels like she’s been here forever.
Kayla started as a Candy Slinger, dabbled in events, and became our warehouse manager. Packed orders, spun the most perfectly round cotton candy puffs you’ve seen in your life, built CandyGrams, created iconic monthly mixes, and somehow worked her way into being one of the people we simply couldn’t imagine this place without.
She’s the reason production kept moving, orders got out the door, inventory stayed under control, and at least one person was around to answer a multitude of questions approximately 14 times a day, at least 7 from me, who only shows up at the warehouse once a month.
She’s also responsible for reminding us that any inconvenience is a perfectly valid reason for a little treat. Beyond the warehouse, we’ve had the privilege of watching Kayla grow into this really exciting chapter of her life. We’ve celebrated wins with her, heard about big dreams and new adventures, and watched her light up as she talks about the things she’s building for herself. As a team that’s mostly in a very different season of life, it’s been pretty special to have a front-row seat to her journey. The person walking out our doors today is even more confident, capable, and sure of herself than the one who walked in nearly two years ago, and that’s been a pretty cool thing to witness.
It’s still funny to us that one of the most important people at a candy company doesn’t actually like candy all that much. Somehow, it made perfect sense. The warehouse will feel a whole lot different tomorrow without her.
Kayla, thank you for everything you’ve brought to our team. Thank you for the hard work, the laughs, and for being such a huge part of The Sugar Cube story. We’re going to miss you more than we’d like to admit.
Now go crush whatever comes next. 💜
