Some stories are carved into our history.
This stack of books was created by artist Rick Silas when Fair’s Fair was still in its original home at 1336 9th Ave SE.

It’s been with us through every chapter — a reminder of where we started, and why we’re still here.

Thank you for being part of the story.

Calgary’s history doesn’t just live in archives and old photographs — sometimes it rolls right back to us.
Lloyd Cooper’s roller rink was once the heartbeat of Friday nights in this city: music loud, wheels bright, and generations learning how to glide, stumble, and start again.

Books like Wheels remind us that Calgary’s story isn’t only railways and ranchlands — it’s the places where people gathered, laughed, and found their rhythm.
Fair’s Fair has always been a home for those memories, one shelf at a time.

When the day winds down and the shop grows quiet,
this old adding machine reminds us how Calgary once kept its books —
one key, one click, one careful total at a time.

Tools like this built the rhythm of early businesses across the Prairies.
Now it sits among our shelves, a small reminder that every story —
even the ones written in ledgers — helped shape the city we call home.

Fair’s Fair has always been part of Calgary’s story — and every July, that story gets a little dust on its boots.
This sign has seen decades of readers, rodeos, and summer days on 9th Ave SE.
Here’s to the city that loves its books as much as its boots.

If you’ve ever walked down this ramp, you know the feeling.
The world gets quieter, the maps pull you in, and suddenly you’re not just entering a bookstore — you’re entering a different way of seeing things.

Inglewood has always been our doorway to discovery.

Tools change, but the love of words doesn’t.
This old Underwood once carried the weight of stories, letters, and ideas — one keystroke at a time.

Every time we bring a piece like this out of storage, we’re reminded that books aren’t just objects.
They’re part of a long, human conversation.

When the shop settles and the last books find their place,
this old press reminds us how every story once began —
slow turns, steady hands, and a little bit of magic.
Here’s to the craft that shaped the shelves we love.
