"How do you sharpen skates?"

The cool thing about the Sparx3, is the user just needs to understand how to properly set the sharpener for each type of skate, choose the correct grinding disc, set the skate into the skate sharpener and it's ready to go.

Once it's sharpened, the deburring process begins. I will ensure the folded over steel from the sharpening process is taken off, I run my thumb up and down each side of the blade to ensure it's smooth and ready to go. I will use a leather strap to remove any loose particles.

To complete the process, I use the Sparx3 Edge Beam to ensure the skates edges are even, which allows the skater to have the best skate experience once they hit the ice.

"How long does the sharpening process take?"

With our Sparx3 Skate Sharpener at CDEM Skate on average, hockey skates and goalie skates take around 5-8 minutes to complete. Figure Skates take about 10 minutes on average to complete. This includes set-up, sharpening, deburring, and clean-up.

"How often does Sidney Crosby sharpen his skates?"

Everyone loves to know the inside details of NHL players hockey routines, this is one of them.

Sidney Crosby is known to have his skates sharpened before every game period. With 3 periods in a game, he gets them sharpened minimum 3x a game.

This doesn't include his practices or rec skating times. This is not for every player, many professional hockey players go on average of 8 hours of ice time before they get their skates sharpened.
