Dream Doors - a quick story....
Every year we get inspired to create something unique for our friends, extended family and our business partners... and last year... we created something so cool we wanted to share it with everyone. These are Dream Doors - a place to keep your dreams. Inspired by Castles and Magic, these doors come with a secret pocket in the back where we had everyone write down t
heir dreams, to be kept safe inside the Dream Doors. You can write down your dreams and keep them inside, or dreams you have for others in your life. You can also put a key, or small charm inside for someone special. After the Christmas season last year, we thought about how to produce more... since the first ones took hours to complete.. we had to simplify things a bit. We went through several 'generations' of Dream Doors. Some of them were tiny, others too big... and some... well... we won't talk about those. Finally we settled on this design - and then... we got creative. We have many 'one of a kind' embellishments and some keepsakes we wanted to include, you can see those in the first pictures we have here on Facebook - those were the first few samples we created. Then we added some ancient symbols to some of the Dream Doors, inspired by runes and other writings from the ancient past. Those looked pretty cool. Styles of doors were experimented with, and we settled on six different designs, since people like different things. Some of them are wood stained light, and some are stained in dark tones and textures to make every Dream Door unique... just like peoples dreams. All of this was created in Kelowna, BC - just before we moved our entire Studio and WorkShop to Calgary, Alberta - a big move! It took a couple months to get everything going - but when the dust settled (literally lol), we broke out the tools and finished off the first Fifty Dream Doors - and now we have another Fifty on the way! These ones are custom - and right now we're hard at work in the shop with some larger commercial orders. But we still wanted to share, so we started up this Facebook group, our Instgram Account, and we wanted to share through Twitter too... so all that came together for everyone. We've set a maximum number for Christmas of 2017 - and we're ready to step things up next year - but after all this work, and getting to know new friends and neighbours, we are going to relax a bit in January...
(... right now wives and husbands are rolling their eyes knowing that we work every day... but... really... we promise to keep it to a minimum...) So now we're spreading out our newsletters and flyers around town, we're promoting our little videos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram... and we're sharing the dream with everyone. We really do believe it - everyone deserves a dream - and if we could, we would make one for everyone so they could have something hand made and unique to keep their dreams in...
