Merry Christmas to our Tosser Tribe,
The Tree Tossers are back for the 2020/2021 Christmas Season!!!
Another Christmas is upon us and as a result, the Tree Tossers are at it again! It’s our 5th season picking up Calgary's Christmas trees while giving back to the community. Simply sign-up @ www.treetossers.com, kickback and enjoy the holiday's while we take away your Tree. We are really looking forward to helping make your lives a little easier while we strive for a record donation. Despite a massively challenging year - essentially worldwide - we know that Calgarians will keep the Christmas spirit and open their hearts to the less fortunate folks in our community.
Since you are taking a moment to read this, we sincerely thank you! We could not do what we do without your support. The biggest hurdle we face each year is reaching more people with word of our service. The Tree Tossers are thankful to have received excellent media coverage each year, however, we critically rely on our community of supporters to help spread the word via social media.
In that spirit, we are issuing a challenge to spread positivity and the Christmas spirit, by asking you to share a picture of your Christmas Tree. Simply post on Facebook, Nextdoor, Twitter and/or Instagram with the title "I want the Tree Tossers to Toss my Tree", tag us and then share with your friends. Each week we will be drawing one of the submissions for a free Tree pickup.
The Tree Tossers will continue our tradition of building community and philanthropic spirit. Each and every person who supports us has a direct impact on the people we support. Remember, the more trees we pick up, the more financial assistance we can provide. Please assist us by sharing our social media accounts with your friends and family.
Courtney and Griffin:
This year Courtney Robinson and her son Griffin will be the beneficiaries of funds earmarked for donation from your support. Courtney is a single mom supporting her 2 year old son Griffin. He was born with several health problems, the most serious being his heart. Griffin has undergone several surgeries to date- including surgery to repair his heart when he was only 12 days old. He has since had several other surgeries and is still facing more, the next is scheduled in the coming weeks.
Child care is nearly impossible to find due to Griffin’s health issues; however, Courtney succeeded in finding one place to take him initially. Now, with COVID cases running so high, their medical specialists advised that Griffin should no longer be in outside care. Courtney now remains home to care for Griffin. Government support has been a major hurdle - They have slipped through the proverbial cracks of the system.
All this has taken a major financial toll and has left them in a very tough spot. We learned of Courtney and Griffin through a gofundme campaign set up by Courtney’s friend. She and Griffin are very deserving recipients of financial support, thus Tree Tossers is counting on community support for their cause. Courtney is resourceful in trying to make ends meet, she has begun making and selling hand-crafted home decor items online, including Christmas ornaments. - you can help support her through this: Paint & Pine.
In the past, Courtney herself has lead charitable fundraising initiatives at her previous workplaces - she never expected to be the one in need of financial assistance, but we know she and Griffin are very deserving recipients given the circumstances.

If it happens that you don’t have a real Christmas Tree, (which we can’t imagine why?) please consider supporting directly through the GoFundMe page.
UPDATE - Last Years - RecipientsThe Walkers:
We had a very special visit to the Walker family home when we wrapped up last season. They were so appreciative of all the support that all of you helped to contribute. Madelyn was home from the hospital, giving us a truly memorable moment to share some time with the whole family. Recently, Madelyn has begun to take some steps on her own, gaining some confidence along the way. Keep up the great progress Madelyn!
Putting your trees to good Use:
Wildlife Refuge - Once again our plan is to deliver trees to the wildlife rehabilitation centres that use them as habitat for their adorable creatures. For example, one particularly cute and appreciative porcupine was the recipient of a number of trees.
Goat Farm - Approximately three large trailer loads of your trees went to a goat and sheep farm in the past. We intend to do the same this year! As if a little porcupine wasn’t cute enough, picture a little kid/billy munching your Christmas tree.
ALL TREES ARE RECYCLED in some form or another
Everyone have a Merry Christmas and we are looking forward to seeing you as we trudge through your snowbanks and back alley’s picking up trees. Please feel free to come out and say hi, we will keep our social distance or even take a selfie, with our bearded mugs!
Yours Truly Bo & Pierre, The Tree Tossers
