Although my hands think otherwise, there’s something special about hand-stitched leather—every stitch is a testament to craftsmanship, patience, and durability. Unlike machine stitching, which relies on a single thread that can unravel if broken, hand stitching uses a saddle stitch technique with two independent threads, making it far stronger and longer-lasting. It also allows the leather to flex naturally over time, preventing premature wear while maintaining its integrity. Beyond durability, there’s an undeniable beauty in the slight imperfections of hand stitching, adding character and authenticity to each piece. It’s not just a technique; it’s an art form that brings timeless quality to leatherwork.

Since it’s been a while, let me reintroduce myself! 👋🏼

Hey friends, I’m Melissa, the founder and maker behind Millie & Co. My journey with leather crafting began in 2017 as a hobby—creating durable, stylish pieces for my rescue dog, Millie. What started as a passion project soon grew into something more: a brand built on quality, craftsmanship, and timeless design.

Originally a dog-focused leather brand, Millie & Co. has evolved to create strong, long-lasting leather goods that are accessible to everyone—whether you have two legs or four. Each piece is designed to wear uniquely to its owner, telling your story over time!

Giving back has always been important to me, which is why Millie & Co. proudly partners with Save Our Scruff, a Toronto-based dog rescue. With every purchase, 10% is donated directly to their mission, helping dogs in need find loving homes.

Well hey there friends! Radio silence, I know…it’s been a while!

As many of you know I had a baby a little while back and getting back into the leather scene has been a slow burn. I put off markets for the year to focus my time on learning all the mom things and making sure Millie and our two other fur-babies don’t feel lost in the mix.

Just wanted to stop in and do something for all of you who have stuck around waiting for posts, new pieces, and in-person appearances. I truly appreciate all the support!

From now until December 8th I’ve got 15% off almost everything on the site. As I can’t guarantee delivery on those pieces before Christmas I’ve also gone and loaded a sale page with ready-to-ship items that I’ve discounted a fair amount. All those pieces are first come, so take a look quickly if you don’t want to miss it! You can find them under the “shop” tab on my website!
