September 30th is Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Today is an opportunity to reflect on the intergenerational trauma caused by residential schools. Destination: Deerfoot City would like to recognize that we are situated on traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy including the Siksika, Piikani and Kainai Nations; the Iethka Stoney-Nakoda, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Good Stoney Nations; and the Tsuut'ina Nation. Calgary is also home to the historic Northwest Métis , Otipemisiwak Métis Government, Métis Battle River Territory, Nose Hill Métis District 5, and Elbow Métis District 6. 🪶

During this day of reflection, we honour the survivors, families, and communities deeply impacted by residential schools.

Every Child Matters 🧡 Join the Calgary Public Library at a special Story Time for Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Along with the stories, there will be two activities for children of all ages to engage with the themes of Truth and Reconciliation.
