Behind every RavenSong product is a story, a family, and the people who continue to carry those teachings forward. 🖤
RavenSong began with Valerie Lamirande (Sliṉg̱a Jaada, “Creative Girl”), whose artistic spirit and connection to Haida Gwaii shaped the heart of what RavenSong would become. Through scent, texture, and ritual, Valerie created more than soaps and candles. She created a way to share stories, ancestral knowledge, and moments of connection.
Today, that vision continues through Alissa Assu and Cody Assu, who co-founded RavenSong and are carrying the work into its next chapter.
Alissa brings her experience as an Indigenous entrepreneur and community advocate, while Cody leads our artisan soap production, apprenticing under Valerie and learning the craft of cold-process soapmaking. When he isn’t making soap, you’ll often find him carrying on his family’s connection to the sea as skipper of the Haida Girl, a commercial seine vessel passed down through generations.
From land to sea, creativity to craftsmanship, RavenSong continues to be shaped by family, culture, and the teachings that connect us to where we come from.
