MARK, FLIP, BARNACLE and BUBBLES
This pod is supposed to be learning how to hunt, but they prefer playing hide-and-seek in giant kelp forests. Mark bravely leads the way into new waters, Flip loves to sneak up on seagulls to startle them, Barnacle frequently falls asleep mid-swim and floats to the surface like a log, and Bubbles enjoys scratching her belly on the shoreline. They are searching for a fun-loving human who has plenty of room on their bed for a cuddly Orca.

PIP and SQUEAK
Playful, mischievous, and incredibly cuddly. These wolf pups are terrible at hunting, but they are experts at stealing socks. Pip likes to distract people by tilting his head and looking cute, while Squeak sneaks up from behind to grab loose laundry. They use their loot to build the ultimate cozy fort. They are searching for a human companion who doesn't mind a little mischief and has plenty of blankets to share.

BARNABY
Barnaby is gentle, steady, and incredibly soft-hearted. Barnaby is an eagle who prefers a warm nest to a wild storm. He was born in an ancient pine tree overlooking a quiet lake. He has exceptionally fluffy wings that are perfect for shielding his forest friends from the rain. He collects shiny river stones as good-luck charms for his loved ones. Barnaby is looking for a cozy bedroom where he can act as a permanent guardian angel and cuddle buddy.

PENNY
Penny is curious but cautious. Born May 14th, she spent her first week learning to balance on her spindly legs. Penny is fascinated by shiny things and once spent a whole afternoon chasing a glowing firefly. She uses her oversized, velvety ears to listen for anyone who might need help. Penny is looking for a human friend who can hold her paw during big adventures and show her what the world looks like outside.

The late W. JOEL GOOD

These designs were created by Joel Good, a traditional Coast Salish artist from Snuneymuxw First Nation, well-known for several inspiring local public art installations. In 2024, Joel won the City of Nanaimo Excellence in Culture Award for his achievements in visual art. His commissions include Departure Bay House Posts, City of Nanaimo Manole Covers, Downtown Bollards and many more projects as well as the frontal at the Nanaimo Art Gallery.

Good's designs are informed by Snuneymuxw oral history, taught to him by his father, the late Dr. William Good, Master artist and Hereditary Chief. Joel adeptly fused Snuneymuxw teachings and classical painting inspired by the work of his mother, artist and painter Sandra Moorhouse-Good, to form his own traditional style

Sadly, Joel passed away August 28th, 2024, at the age of 40. His legacy continues with his art featured on garments created by Ay Lelum - The Good House of Design, run by his sisters Aunalee Boyd-Good and Sophia Good. Joel’s designs on Ay Lelum couture and ready-to-wear garments have been on the runways of Vancouver Fashion Week, New York Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week and have graced the pages of numerous publications like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
