For those of us who were born before 2001 - do you remember where you were or what you doing when the World Trade Center was hit?
I (Lynn) was working in Banff at the time. The shuttle to the resort I worked at picked me up at home as usual that morning, with the radio on. Within a minute I realized that something big was happening as there was no music on the radio. I do not start my morning with the tv on or radio playing so until that moment I had no idea what was happening.
As we pulled into the resort & I made my way to the office, I stopped in the breakfast lounge where the tv was on - most of the staff were gathered there watching, all of us in shock. We watched as the second tower fell (and watched replays over & over throughout the day). I remember running to my office to call my house to wake up my 3 roommates telling them to turn on the tv.
Throughout the last 25 years, I think of that morning every Sept 11. But I also have learned of so many amazing people and communities that came forward to help during that time. Gander Newfoundland is one we in Canada know best - and I know of many others.
The impact of this day is still felt around the world.
