Today is International Day of Police Cooperation

At Joint Force Tactical, we know that policing rarely stops at a jurisdictional line. Information, resources, expertise and people have to move with the problem.

Drug trafficking is a great example. Here in our home province of British Columbia, Canadian agencies work alongside U.S. counterparts and other partners to track, investigate and disrupt criminal networks that operate across borders.

From the RCMP and CBSA to local police and international partners, different agencies bring different capabilities to the same problem.

That is what International Day of Police Cooperation is about – recognizing the work that happens when the job demands more than one team, one city or one country.

Different uniforms. Different jurisdictions. Same objective: get the job done.

Did you know? More than 5,000 Canadian Rangers live in more than 220 remote, isolated and coastal communities across Canada.

They aren't stationed there and sent in from somewhere else. They live there!

The Canadian Rangers are part of the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, providing a military presence in some of the country's most remote communities.

They patrol. They report unusual activity. They support search and rescue. They assist during wildfires, floods and evacuations. And they provide local knowledge that can be critical to operations in places where conventional military units can't easily operate.

There are Rangers in communities across Canada's North, along its coasts and in remote areas of provinces, including British Columbia.

We love uncovering these lesser-known stories about the military: a community of professionals that we’re proud to serve every day.

We often tend to think of the Canadian Armed Forces in terms of combat, training exercises, or Arctic operations.

But every year, CAF personnel and aircraft can find themselves supporting Canadians during some of the country's worst natural disasters.

Under Operation LENTUS, the military has deployed helicopters, transport aircraft, Canadian Rangers, and personnel to support wildfire response across Canada.

That can mean evacuating residents from remote communities, moving firefighters and equipment, transporting essential supplies, conducting reconnaissance, or reaching areas where roads and normal infrastructure simply aren't an option.

In recent wildfire seasons, military aircraft have helped move thousands of people and support emergency operations across the country. This fire season, CAF aircraft were again called upon to help evacuate communities threatened by wildfires.

That's another side of military service that doesn't always make the headlines.

Tomorrow, The Rolling Barrage reaches its final leg, taking riders from Princeton to Aldergrove and bringing this year’s coast-to-coast motorcycle ride to a close.

Now in its 10th year, The Rolling Barrage brings together veterans, serving military members, first responders and civilian riders to raise awareness around PTSD/PTSI and mental health — and to remind people that the conversation doesn’t stop when the ride ends.

After 22 days on the road, tomorrow is the finish line. Respect to every rider, supporter and volunteer who helped carry the message across Canada.

After nearly four years with Joint Force Tactical, today we say goodbye to our Director of Sales, Joe Cullen.
Joe has been an important part of JFT and has played a major role in our growth and success over the past several years. While we’re genuinely sad to see him go, we couldn’t be prouder of where he’s headed next.
After 29 years of service with the Canadian Armed Forces Reserve, Joe has accepted a full-time position with a new military training school being established here in British Columbia. He’ll be stepping into a senior leadership role as a Master Warrant Officer — an incredible achievement and a reflection of nearly three decades of commitment, leadership and service.
It’s always tough to lose a valued member of the team, but it’s hard to be anything but proud when someone leaves to pursue an opportunity like this.
Joe, thank you for everything you’ve given to JFT over the last four years. We wish you nothing but success in this next chapter and know you’ll make the same impact there that you’ve made here.

Most Canadians know the Snowbirds for their precision flying.

Far fewer know what they actually are.

The Canadian Forces Snowbirds aren't a standalone aerobatic team. They are the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force, and every pilot is a serving military officer selected from experienced RCAF aviators.

For a few years, their mission isn't combat or transport. It's representing the professionalism, discipline, and precision of the Canadian Armed Forces to millions of Canadians.

What looks effortless from the ground is anything but.

Nine aircraft flying just metres apart at speeds exceeding 500 km/h requires an extraordinary level of trust, communication, and discipline. Every manoeuvre is rehearsed relentlessly. Every pilot knows not only their own position, but the exact position of every aircraft around them.

It's one of the most demanding forms of formation flying in military aviation.

This year also marks the end of an era.

After more than five decades in service with the team, the iconic CT-114 Tutor will fly its final Snowbirds season before being retired, bringing to a close a chapter that has inspired generations of Canadians and introduced countless young people to military aviation. The squadron will pause while transitioning to a new aircraft before returning in the early 2030s.

The Snowbirds have performed thousands of demonstrations across North America, but their mission has always been larger than the airshow itself. They represent the skill, professionalism, and commitment of the people who wear the Royal Canadian Air Force uniform.

Respect to the pilots, technicians, maintainers, logistics personnel, and everyone behind 431 Air Demonstration Squadron.

Many of us have never heard of Operation DRIFTNET. But it's a fascinating story...

Since 1993, the Canadian Armed Forces has supported Fisheries and Oceans Canada in the North Pacific, helping detect and deter illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.

This is not close to shore. It's high-seas enforcement across more than four million square kilometres of ocean, where Canadian CP-140 Aurora crews, DFO fishery officers, satellite imagery, and international partners work together to protect wild fish stocks.

The target includes banned high-seas driftnets – massive nets that can stretch for kilometres and indiscriminately kill fish, seabirds, and marine mammals.

Some Canadian military operations never make the headlines. They do not always involve combat. Sometimes they involve long-range aircraft, sensor operators, fishery officers, and quiet enforcement work thousands of kilometres from home.

Protecting Canada’s interests can mean protecting oceans, food security, international law, and the species that depend on those waters.

Respect to the crews and officers doing the work. Thank you for your service.
