🍎 BACK TO SCHOOL: THE MOM EDITION 🎒
Kindergarten moms stand at the door,
Holding back tears as they’ve never before.
A backpack too big, new shoes tied tight,
“How did my baby grow up overnight?” 🥹
Grade One moms smile still tender, it’s true,
But there’s maybe a little more spring in their shoe.
By Grade Two and Three, we’ve figured it out:
“Have the BEST DAY!”
Now get out. 😂
Grade Four, Five, Six summer was great,
But September, sweet September…
we’ve been counting the dates. 🙌
Seven, Eight, Nine?
We’re not shedding a tear.
We love you, sweet children,
but GET YOUR BACKPACK THE BUS IS HERE. 🚌
Ten and Eleven, we barely look back:
“Do you have your lunch?”
“Your phone?”
“Your backpack?”
“No? Cool. Sounds like a you problem.” 🤷♀️
But then comes Grade Twelve…
and the jokes hit the brakes.
Because somehow this morning
feels different when they wake.
It’s the last first day. ❤️
And for just a second,
you don’t see the almost-grown kid walking away.
You see the five-year-old
with the giant backpack,
turning around to wave.
So Kindergarten moms, you cry.
Grade Twelve moms, you cry too.
Grades One through Eleven?
WE RIDE AT DAWN. ☕🙌
The lunches are packed.
The alarm clocks are set.
The house will be quiet.
Happy Back to School, Moms.
We survived summer. 😂🎒
