50 years ago at this time today, 29 souls were taken to the bottom of Lake Superior with the most famous Great Lakes Shipwreck; The Edmund Fitzgerald. The "Fitz" was immortalized in song by Gordon Lightfoot and became the inspiration for many Great Lakes divers and maritime historians alike; Myself included. Rumours swirl around her sinking just like the waves on the inland seas stirred by the gales of November. As we remember those who tragically lost their lives that day, I leave you with a story told by a man who diligently keeps their memory alive. Thank you Ric Mixter of Airworthy Productions for bringing this story to generations. May the 29 souls on the Fitz and all those that lost their lives on the lakes, rest in peace.
