We’ve had a couple of people asking us about our preserves and what you use them for, so we thought we would dedicate a post to further explain the flavours and uses of preserves!😋🥰
For starters what ARE preserves?
Preserves are used as a flavour enhancer for any dish! As Preserves also come in a variety of ways! There are mustards, relishes, or even savoury or sweet spreads that all help to enhance the taste of your food!🤩💥🍽
Here at the cure, we offer a range of each preserve to help customers expand their flavour palette and to provide more customer knowledge about different or new ingredients, to hopefully help take some of the stress away from trying something new!😮💨
Here are a few of the preserves and their pairings that we offer here at the cure:
- Pear Riesling Wine Jam🥂: This is a sweeter preserve that tastes of fresh pears that have been soaked in Riesling! Pair with creamy cheeses and ripened blue cheese! We highly suggest you try this with Bleu Fumé from Saint-Bentoit du Lac!
- Charcuterie Mustard🧀🍖: This is a mustard preserve used to spice up any savoury dishes as it has more of a vinegary finish! This mustard tastes of Salt Spring Island Ales’ Heather Ale and a hint of honey for sweetness. Pair with any dry cured meats, sharp hard cheeses, burgers, or sandwiches
- Onion and Thyme Spread🧅🪴: a savoury spread that tastes of crisp onion, thyme, and a hint of sweet apple. This is a very versatile spread that pairs with Blue Cheese, Brie, Camembert, smoked Gouda, aged Cheddar, sandwiches, burgers, and grilled cheese.
- Hellish relish🥗: a relish preserve that has a tangy start with a bit of a kick at the end! You can pair this relish with anything! We suggest pairing with a juicy hamburger or a smoked Gouda
If you are looking for a special type of preserve or if you’re not sure what to pair your preserves with, come and see us today from 10am-6pm to have us help you curate the perfect taste! ❤️🥰🎄☃️
