Many hands and hearts come together to create a special afternoon tea at Mackie Lake House. This is our Harvest Tea Oct 24th. I was listening to the volunteers chat as we cleaned up and each one of them also volunteer somewhere else in the community. These are the souls that make the world go ‘round in my eyes. Extra shoutout to my talented friend Renee who so graciously created the autumn mini cakes for us. ❤️🙏🏻 find her on IG at Icingonthecake for gorgeous floral cupcake bouquets.

Such a joy to create this Afternoon Tea served buffet style for a gorgeous, whimsical wedding for 70 guests. Even better to work with family - son Garrett and niece Hazel were excellent tea fare creators!

It’s time to dive into our new column that debuted in our autumn issue—Etiquette Corner. In each edition, we will cover an array of topics that reside under the etiquette umbrella. Today, we are tackling the proper order for teatime courses.

When all foods for afternoon tea are served together on a tiered stand, British tradition dictates that savories appear on the bottom, scones on the middle, and sweets on the top. Starting at the bottom, guests work their way up, tier by tier. However, if the scones are served warm from the oven, one might want to enjoy them first before anything else. A warm scone is hard to deny!

If you have any pressing etiquette questions for us, feel free to comment here or send an email to [email protected].

An Afternoon Tea buffet for 30 guests at Mackie Lake House. This was a fun and casual approach, great for meetings and workshops.

The last outdoor concert of the Summer at Mackie Lake House. Emily and I did a pop up baking cart with tasty treats. Note the gorgeous sugar cookies, strawberries and blossoms, handcrafted by Emily.

Tea Apprentice Emily created these absolutely adorable tea pot sugar cookies to adorn the tiered stands. Guests loved them today!

Such a wonderful Teddy Bear Tea this week. We had 42 guests and their bears. All said they enjoyed the tea fare and activities thoroughly. We are extremely grateful for that and the team we have the pleasure of working with. Please bring your bear any time and join us for tea or a picnic on the grounds this Summer!
