David Sinclair is a Canadian Flamenco Guitarist who was born and raised in Toronto. After graduating with a degree in Classical Guitar performance, he began to experiment with a variety of musical styles including jazz and flamenco. Visiting Spain on various occasions, David decided to completely dedicate himself to the art of flamenco music. In 2005, he and his wife moved to Granada, Spain where they still currently live. David regularly performs, specializing in the accompaniment of singers and playing solo in various venues throughout AndalucĂa.
Flamenco is an art-form that dates back over two centuries, originating in AndalucĂa, the southern part of Spain. It encompasses three facets; singing, guitar and dance. In this performance the guitar will be featured. In flamenco the guitar is often overlooked and undervalued but it is the pivotal piece of this art-form that connects all the three abovementioned facets.
In 2014 David released his first CD recorded in Spain entitled “Paseo de las Palmas”, in which all the pieces were composed by him in various flamenco forms. This concert will feature the songs from this recording.
Flamenco is a diverse, rich and exciting music that is very rhythmically intricate. Come and take part in this special event that offers something unique in Collingwood –¡ Flamenco Puro!
