We are lucky to have multi-talented and all round nice guy Nate Schmold here on Saturday October 17th in the morning from 10am to help us celebrate 2 years in Comox, as well as introduce us to some of his unique creations and share his inspiration!
PetMutant is an art-toy passion project by Vancouver Island artist, musician and game designer Nate Schmold. Combining wet-felting and needle-felting with his whimsical cartoon character design skills, Nate hand-makes odd and quirky monsters that he then puts up for adoption.
Each Pet Mutant takes 5–15 hours to create, painstakingly (literally—you should see the holes in his fingers!) jabbing a sharp, barbed needle into dyed roving (unspun wool) until a creature takes shape. Each has its own odd little personality and comes with a special adoption card and hand-felted pieces of its favourite food.
Brought to life through wool, curiosity and a love of the weird, Nate's Pet Mutants are an invitation to smile, find charm in imperfections and make room for a little absurdity in your everyday life.
Stop by Wildflower Mercantile in the morning for a slice of cake, and wander over to Roam for a specialty beverage and chat to Nate!
