This lovely hummingbird was a gift for my hosts in Powell River. BC. Paul and Petra run an ocean front airbnb called the Hummingbird Haven, so a hummingbird, made from red cedar, was an ideal carve for them. It was mounted on an twisty metal rod to give it movement and whimsy for their garden space.

It was year three returning to the beautiful community of Powell River, BC. The crew of volunteers who stepped forward to help coordinate this event were incredible, every detail was taken care of, with a smile despite the long 12 hr days. Thank you so much, without them this event would cease to exist. We even had Pat from Road Warriors help wrangle our logs with his hiab and always with a smile. I carved sea turtles, for a first and I can say I really enjoyed it - more to come! Our mama bear Laura Passek, who coordinates everyone and everything fell ill soon after the event started- wishing her a speedy recovery 💓 and a huge thank you to Michelle Pennell for documenting the event - your long days can be seen within all the moments captured - thank you for your great photographs!

Transformation on the Shore, celebrating 30 years of magic here in Campbell River, BC. It was a big year as we gathered to carve and celebrate all that Max Chikite began 30 years ago. What an honour to be carving in Frank James Park this weekend with all the carvers who gathered. The history this park holds and the carvers its seen is pretty incredible to say the least. Thank you so much to all the crew who worked so hard to make this year happen!

It was an honour to construct and carve a box for a friend...it was a highly detailed carve but a saw was used to rough out the eagle

This commission is complete and was delivered this morning after recoverying from the longest flu I've ever endured ...phew!
I really appreciate and enjoy the subject matter clients request. It's a beautiful edition to the property, especially since the client has hives 🐝
