Recently a comment was made on one of our posts that our prices were high considering that the items we sell are donated.
I would like to clear up any misconceptions some of our followers may have. Yes, all the inventory at the CHCA Thrift Store is donated. We have many generous donors, some of whom donate expensive or rare or antique items. We are careful to research the value of these items. We are also mindful that we are not an antique store or a second hand store.
We are a Thrift Store.
Bearing that in mind, we price our items at a fraction of retail
Would you like to know where the money goes from the sale of your generous donation?
ALL of the money earned at the CHCA Thrift Store (after taxes, utilities and maintenence) goes to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
In 2025 we donated $642,130.53 to the hospital to purchase equipment. One of the surgical items was a Phaco Machine, used in cataract surgery. It cost $306,126.83. We have purchased a laser system, an endoscope and a portable ultrasound, among other things in addition to contributing to the neo natal icu.
Every time you make a donation or come to shop you are contributing to the health and well being of all the patients in the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.
THANK YOU!
And thank you to the volunteers who work 6 days a week to sort and display all the amazing donations our comunnity so selflessly gives.
