Jessica Tamlin Art

Jessica Tamlin Art My paintings are inspired by my surroundings, whether that be something I pass by everyday or something that is sought out in small adventures.

Using a limited palette I paint and often find myself getting lost in the subject matter. “Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R.Tolkien

Hand pulled screenprint of the world map on reclaimed wood. Includes a glassine envelope containing colourful straight pins to pin where you've been (or where you want to go!). Each piece is handmade, from the sanding of the reclaimed wood to the hand pulling of the screenprint, so please allow for imperfections...we think this makes them perfect :)

If you're purchasing this as a gift, a hand written note can be included at no extra cost. Measures 8" x 12". Includes a saw tooth hanger on back. Or lean it on a shelf.

Little things I’ve been working on lately. 🧵🎨

Some painting, some stitching, some experimenting — and a few ideas slowly coming together.

More soon. ❤️

Some sights and sounds from our canoe trip in Algonquin this past week. 🌲

We started at the Jump Off on Rain Lake, then made our way into Jubilee for a night before settling into Bandit for a few days.

Spent our days just staring at the water and listening to the sounds of the park — the frogs, the loons and, for the first time, the incredible sound of Eastern Wolves calling in the distance. 🐺 One time they sounded rather close!

On our last morning, we packed everything up and spent five hours paddling and portaging our way back to the car.

A very quiet, very simple and very much needed few days away. ❤️

Next step is figuring out how to bring some of what I felt out there back into the studio. Oh, and also figuring out how to make our gear WAY lighter for next time. 😂

Postcards from the Heart 💌

When was the last time you sent someone something in the mail just because?

Join us for Friday Night Art at Mill Street Art Studio for an evening celebrating the simple act of making something by hand — and sending it out into the world.

We’ll spend the evening painting, collaging and illustrating a collection of postcards. At the end of the night, choose one for someone who could use a little happy mail, write your message, add the address and drop it in the mailbox.

We’ll provide the postcards, art supplies, snacks and even the stamp.

Friday, September 11 | 6:30–8:30 pm

Moving Waters is officially on its way to Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Water has a way of connecting places.

When I was 17, I travelled to Scotland with my friend Melissa and remember saying, I’ll be back someday. I haven’t made it back…yet, but it feels fitting that my paintings has.

Inspired by the quiet waters here in Canada, Moving Waters is now crossing the Atlantic to begin a new chapter. It feels a little like sending a small piece of myself to a place that’s always stayed with me.

Safe travels, Moving Waters. May you bring a little piece of Canada to your new home.

I’m excited to be part of the Ojibway Club Art Show again this year.

It’s one of my favourite summer shows, set on a beautiful island in Pointe au Baril. I’ll be there for the opening reception on Friday, August 7 from 5–7 pm, and I’d love to see you if you’re in the area.

The next morning, Jon and I will be heading into Algonquin Park for a few days by canoe. I’m looking forward to unplugging, slowing down, and soaking in the landscapes that inspire so much of my work. I have a feeling I’ll be coming home with lots of inspiration (as always).

If getting to the island isn’t in the cards, the online gallery opens Thursday, August 6 at 10:00 am, so you can browse the show and purchase artwork from wherever you are.

Hope to see you there—or online!

Sometimes the smallest paintings hold the biggest stories. 💛

Join me on September 19th for The Art of Small Things, a relaxed afternoon exploring the joy of painting tiny landscapes in gouache.

We’ll begin with a simple colour-mixing exercise before creating a miniature painting together, step by step. Along the way, you’ll learn how to mix beautiful colours, simplify a landscape, and discover how much can be expressed in just a few inches.

Each participant will take home a beautiful mini painting kit filled with everything you need to keep painting long after the workshop ends—making it easy to continue this quiet creative practice at home.

No experience is needed. Just come as you are.

🎨 All materials (including your take-home art kit) are included.
🖼 You’ll also leave with a framed miniature painting and the confidence to paint more on your own.

I can’t wait to share this afternoon with you.
