I don’t always sit on the counter of my flower studio, but when I do it’s to hard launch some lovely long-stem roses now chilling in our cooler. 🌹

There’s still plenty of life blooming in our production beds, but I’m thrilled to welcome the classics back in our studio.

Weird fact about our flower studio. It was once an indoor hot tub room. But it was broken when we bought the house (and also inexplicably lit with black lights 🧐).

We gutted it to build a design studio. My favourite renovation.

Okay granted, I don’t have an exceptionally giant head, but these ‘Lavender Perfection’ dahlias are bigger than my face.

The dahlia patch is outrageous right now, just pumping out blooms to round out the summer. And just in time for three custom arrangements.

I love custom orders. A friend’s favourite colour? Wedding flowers for your anniversary? Legolas talking about the sunrise? Better believe I’ll spin up a palette and flower story for that!

One of my strangest flexes is being mistaken for a garden centre employee every single time I visit one.

I think it’s the hat 🤔.

I mean, obviously I chat about plants for a while before I burst their bubble that I don’t actually work there.

Anyway, I’m off to go plant the dozen or so delightful perennials I just impulse bought. And if you ever see me at a greenhouse, just know I’ll chat your ear off about all the cut flowers. But I don’t know where anything is.

Enjoying every second of summer while it’s here!

Well, holy smokes! Congratulations to our two floral giveaway winners Paula Spence and Rena Corbett.

If you ever need a hit of dopamine and local gratitude, just read the comment section from yesterday’s post. I’ve never been more thankful to live where we live in the community that supports us. Thanks to everyone who shared the charm and beauty of our local vistas yesterday.

We’re totally doing more of these in the future!

Bonus feature: Burkes Beach summer solstice sunset, June 2026.

Two floral ✨giveaways✨ and a brief introduction.

It’s funny, I was born and raised in our plucky small town of Deep River. We may not know everyone here, but we mostly know of each other, you know? All that to say, I didn’t think to introduce myself.

So, hello. My name is Joanna. I’m a third generation florist and first generation cut flower farmer. Together with my husband and our two daughters, we’ve been growing and selling specialty cut flowers to florists and for events for eight years now.

We decided to open our flower shop to the public this year, and it’s been a blast so far.

I’m happiest when I’m creating something, whether it’s through art, writing, dance, or (of course) flowers. I’m also the world’s most mediocre weightlifter and rock climber. But our little flower studio is my happy place.

I hope you enjoy following along with us. Big plans in the works!

If you made it this far, huzzah! We’re doing a ✨LOCAL GIVEAWAY✨. Because honestly, I love giving away flowers. Comment below with what you consider to be the most beautiful spot in Deep River (and surrounding area). I’ll choose the winners at random tomorrow!

August event florals are always bonkers in the best possible way. The theme for this event? Cheerful. My family loves when I take over the dining room as a staging area before transport…*cough*

In related news, we have new flamingo buckets (see the harvest “before” picture). I’m thrilled. Flamingos are the patron animal of our little farm. One of our neighbours flamingo-ed our front lawn a few years ago. The kids loved it. Every morning they’d rush out to see if the flamingo fairy had moved them around overnight (which she often had). The flamingos now reside in our two juniper bushes.

We have the very best neighbours.

Also, a group of flamingos is called a flamboyance. And I love that.

We’re thrilled to announce we now carry Neutron Coffee! If you’re also a huge fan of ethically sourced and locally roasted coffee, come on over. The perfect gift for the coffee lover in your life. Savour a delicious cup in our giant keepsake mugs…perhaps while admiring a lovely flower arrangement.

Shop from our new Local Gift Box collection, which includes coffee, chocolate, giant specialty mugs, and (as always) flowers. You can also add coffee and chocolate to any flower arrangement order. Free local delivery!

Weddings, birthdays, and monarch butterflies. It’s been a delightful week.

The zinnias are doing their prolific August thing, the dahlias have (finally) entered the chat, and autumnal bouquets in high summer are some of my favourites. Gratitude for this life is a heck of a drug.

A few of the flower lovelies that went out into the world last week.

Important caterpillar update: we had more caterpillar babies dropped off this weekend. They are enormous now. I’m basically the world’s most amateur lepidopterist over here. My Google history is a strange place of overly enthusiastic micro-fixations.

The book was right. They’re just so hungry. I love our little visitors! Thank you, neighbours.
