To all who reads this post, we just want to share some great memories! Yesterday we found out a devastating news. One of our dear friends has pass away, Mrs Peggy Richardson. We wish to send our most sincere condolences to the Richardson family and to the community of crafters that knew Mrs Peggy Richardson!
We had the privilege to have known Peggy since I opened and until the closing our doors to our little fabric shop here in Dorchester, NB. Pegg's, as we affectionately named her, among a brood of amazing ladies of the community and surrounding area, have graced our little shop with her regular visits.
At first, she would come in as a customer looking for ideas and we would exchange our experiences on sewing, especially quilting. She would share her tips and tricks, and we would share our knowledge of colors play. As the weeks went on, we were looking forward to her visits just to chat and have a drink. Pop use to be her favorite drink! She became a dear friend fast, she was contagious! She also introduced us to many other wonderful quilters in our area. Like a mother hen, making sure she would share whatever new trick or design was out there, or the fun she would have on her retreats…
Spock, who came to the shop on a regular basis absolutely adore her! As soon as Pegg’s would walking in the door, he would make a b-line straight to this dresser we had. Pegg’s had hidden cat treats for him and every time he was there and she would show up, she would give him exactly 5 pieces. She would talk with him …giving him the royal treatment and would always say…” make sure you don’t tell Loki I gave you treats.” We still have the dresser and still to this day he will go by it and try to pry the drawer open to see if there’s any treats…..We know he misses her.
Another fun memory we have is when we would receive a load of fabrics. We had started a little tradition, when we got fabric, we got them opened by whoever was over for a coffee. Pegg’s and some dear friends would crab a box and get them out faster then we could blink….it was always a Hoot to see! She would always say…” make sure to give me a call when you get your order…I’m just down the road!”….We would just ring her up and often she would answer without us saying anything. I swear on those days, she would use a teleport to come over…and we absolutely loved to see her reactions! Oh!. And the chats we had after the fabrics would be put away. We would sharing the different ideas for projects using the fabrics that just came in.
To this day the knowledge, ideas and patterns we shared between me and Nathalie, is still part of our creating process when we quilt. She was and will always remain a part of us!
Rest in peace dear Pegg’s, you will certainly be missed by us 3: me, Nathalie and Spock! We can still hear your contagious laughter, and you will never be forgotten!
We and Mr Spock are sending big hugs and many prayers of comfort to you Bill, to your family and friends that had the privilege of knowing her.
