If you like a bit of intrigue, a dash of nostalgia, a hint of the 'way we were,' then you need to mosey on over to the Harriston Carnegie Library third floor and check out the Harriston Historical Society Nostalgia Display.

What a time we had. A group of our fabulous SCE folk decided on the spur of the moment, to head out en masse and see what, proprietor and HHS member, Willa Wick, had in store for us.

From hats to hatchets; from old menus to school daze, and a leather strap tossed in for good measure and so much more. And this was no ordinary quick stroll around four rooms of history and curiosities.

Willa cleverly created a 'treasure hunt' style of questions so patrons could dig deep (not to mention have a chance to win a chunk of cash!)

Our SCE piece de resistance, was heading to the local Timmies to debrief and laugh out loud.

Thanks everyone, for being fabulous 'on the spur of the moment' pals and to Willa, you are the best! Thanks for hosting us and the great morning out!

P.S. The display is on until August 22nd, and we double dog dare you to take a friend - or an entire group and head on over to the Harriston Carnegie Library 3rd floor, and be amazed.

Hours: Tuesday 1 pm – 4:30 pm
Friday 1 pm – 3 pm
Saturday 11 am – 1 pm

Games People Play.

Just so you know, we aren’t talking about the kind of mind games people play. There’ll be no manipulation, emotional power plays, or hidden motives on the agenda at the Clifford Dining Program on Wednesday August 26th.

Instead, Serena Lowry, our friend and presenter from the Wellington County Museum and Archives (WCMA) will be sharing all about some actual, factual games that people have played in the past; games that were popular throughout the eras in the county; from sports games to card games. And we’ll hear about some famous athletes from Wellington County, too. Anyone heard of the Clifford Swing skirts?

Please consider this your personal invitation to Game Day.
The food will be fabulous, including some scrumptious sandwiches of your choice, made on homemade oatmeal bread, and all the fixings, not to mention, the mile high lemon meringue pie or cherry pie delight.

Get ready to have some ‘fun and games’ with Serena as head coach and the picnic pair in the Kitchen Kiosk!

Oh...and if you want to bring along a 'vintage' game, we're doing show and tell!

Rah! Rah! Rah!
Call today to book your spot in the dugout. 519-638-1000; [email protected]
Hope to see you in the lineup!

Grief.
It's not like we can avoid it at some point in our lives. Open conversation is essential for processing the intense physical and emotional shockwaves of grief and loss.

Hospice Wellington is all about walking alongside individuals as they traverse through some of life's most difficult journeys.

And they can help in tangible ways. Check out some of the thoughtful programs and supports that they offer. Then get in touch to access whatever will help as you try to navigate through the valleys and challenges.

How about a little Seniors’ Centre for Excellence Palmerston Dining Program, “Did You Know” challenge?

1. Did you know Canada has a desert?
2. Did you know that one of Canada’s warmest and freshest lakes is nestled in Osoyoos, British Columbia?
3. Did you know that Osoyoos is celebrated for world-class vineyards, wineries, and fresh orchard produce?

If you didn’t know any of that, or maybe if you haven’t heard of Osoyoos, you just might be delighted. (Even if you have heard about Osoyoos, you will still be delighted!)

On Wednesday, August 19, how about we meet at James Street United Church in Palmerston for a delicious (non-airline style) lunch and a presentation with our globe-trotting friend, Doris Cassan?

Doris is going to tell us all about what grows in this Canadian desert and how it really is possible to get a sunburn in April! She will be the perfect tour guide and will take us on a journey where we will explore some of the fascinating natural and cultural history of this community.

Let’s do lunch and let’s learn plenty. It'll be fun!
Get in touch, soon, and let us know you’re coming! It’s always nice to have good company. [email protected]; 519-638-1000.
