If there’s one thing we love here @ Little Bird it’s Art! In fact our gift shop here in downtown Duncan is based on that which is beautiful & worthy of appreciation.
A quick search of that small but powerful word comes up with “Art is the conscious use of skill, imagination, & creativity to produce works that evoke emotion, ideas, or aesthetic beauty.”
Well put!
Based on that, it only makes sense that we’re participating in the upcoming
Art & Appies evening, being held next Thursday May 21st from 5pm - 8pm, sponsored by our awesome DBIA (Duncan Business Improvement Association).
This event is described as “A self-guided evening of art, appetizers & downtown discovery across six participating shops. Experience an evening of art, small bites, & downtown charm. Explore local shops, galleries & pop-exhibits - each with a small bite to enjoy.”
We’re pleased to be hosting, arguably our most colourful & prolific local artist that evening - Bara Fallows of Bara Bespoke. She has created a lovely new display of 5 original collage pieces under the name “Painting with Paper”, & hung it in her section of our gallery here @ Little Bird. Bara will be joining us in a demo sharing some of her many techniques she’s developed during her 40+ years as a creative selling artist.

Tickets are available through : downtownduncan.ca/artappies , or if you’re so inclined, use the QR code on the poster for tickets for access. Passports are issued & stamped at each participating business & completed passports can be entered to win a prize draw. Good luck!
