After 6 years of owning this business I have never done an introduction of myself. 🤯
Hi guys, I’m Makayla, the proud owner of Blankets by Boo. Why “by Boo” you ask? When I was born my dad gave me the nickname Boo & it has stuck ever since. My whole family calls me Boo & has my entire life, it’s always been a very special name to me, so much so that I got it tattoo on my wrist in my dad’s handwriting. Those who get to call me boo know it is a privilege, not just anyone is aloud. 😉
The first photo is my cute little family, my handsome fiancé, Tanner and our two crazy German Shepherds, Odin (the big one) & our puppy Bane.
Tanner & I were both born & raised in Alberta & moved to Deer Lake, Newfoundland at the end of May 2024. We have been together for 3 years now & plan to get married next August. 🤍
The third photo is the crazy family I was born into & a few I was lucky enough to end up with as well. I was born in a family of 5, my mom, dad, and my two brothers, Kyle & Kody. That’s right…. I am the youngest AND the only girl. Hence the special nickname… I was in deed a “daddy’s girl” & still am to this day.
I started making blankets in 2019 when Covid-19 started. Due to Covid, I was left without a job so I decided to start making blankets & selling them for a little side cash. My mom was & always has been my biggest supporter. Buying blankets for her friends & family. They truly make the best gifts!
On my spare time, when I am not working my 9-5, or knitting blankets - I spend most of my time exercising our dogs (if you’ve had shepherds you know how much work they are), baking, cooking, hiking, and just spending quality time with my fiancé. We enjoy off-roading, spending time on the beach, road tripping, and camping. Pretty much anything outdoors, and anything we can do with our dogs. If the dogs can’t come, we don’t go. 😂
I hope you guys enjoyed this little blurb of the crazy life of Makayla. I am so thankful for all the support that has come my way with my little business & I am so excited to continue to keep people cozy on the West Coast of Newfoundland. 🤍
