Working on learning a few new knitting techniques this week. The steek section which terrifyingly means I have to cut the purls in one part at the end to make the round scarf into a triangle and roosimine, which is an Estonian inlay technique that makes the colour floats look like embroidery.

Before blocking vs after blocking. This shawl is finally done, I just have to add my patches and then it will soon be available to buy on my website if it isn’t claimed before then. It is 245$ CAD plus shipping if required. Local pickup is an option for those in the Edmonton area. If you like this design but don’t like the colours feel free to let me know and one can be made up in colours of your choosing. Note that it can take up to a month to make this shawl, pricing is also always subject to the cost of materials so when it comes to changing the colours it may change the price of the item.

Got some patches and tags for my knitted and crocheted items. Super happy to have been able to support a local company to get these as well. They did an amazing job designing my logo for these faux leather tags.

These scarves will be available soon on my website. They measure approx 60 inches in length 8 inches wide. The one on the left is available for 75$ is made from a 75% super wash merino wool and 25% polyamide yarn, and the one on the right is available for 65$ is made from 100% superwash merino wool. These prices are canadian as I’m based in Canada and currently only ship within Canada.

Time for a Soak pun intended. Before every garment is officially finished it gets soaked and blocked. It’s soaked in water and a rinse free soap called Soak, there’s a few different scents I’m currently using yuzu which smells amazing. There is also a scentless version for those who have allergies aswell as those who don’t like what could be considered a strong smell. This new scarf will be available soon on my website.

Been doing a happy dance all morning 😂 as most of you are aware I’ve been trying to start my business The Artisan Sloth Shop, well after a few a mountains to climb with getting my website set up I’ve now also finally found a distributor that is willing to be my yarn supplier. Sadly I couldn’t convince any of the local dyeing studios do to the same but I’m still offering items made from these local studios as I want to support them as much as I can, these will be made-to-order items. With that said I’m trying to decide what colours to get for my initial order of supplies. I was gonna do a poll but I have no clue how to do that lol, so if there’s is a colour you’d like the sweaters and scarves I’ll start offering to be, you can offer up a colour suggestion without committing to buying anything. Its gonna take a few days for me to check out all my options with this supplier, so you guys got time to think.

Ooo look at what I just finished, unfortunately the scarf in this specific colour isn’t available to buy but in an effort to support local business I’m currently only making this with my local hand dying studios yarn. August is gastroparesis (GP)awareness month, and with ozempic being the cause for a lot of cases recently I feel it’s extra important to raise awareness around GP, this is something I’ve been struggling with for over 4 years and due to the Canadian healthcare system being the way it is I don’t know what caused mine but hopefully with raising awareness it stops others from making the same mistake so many have just because they want to try something else to lose weight. It isn’t worth it, there’s a reason I call this natures gastric bypass, does wonders to lose weight but it’s not fun nor is it in a good way at all
