So what’s the deal with drinkable w**d? Walking into your local dispensary may feel like W***y Wonka’s chocolate factory with so many strains, edibles, and concentrates to choose from. And legal w**d has crossed another frontier - cannabis beverages.

Cannabis drinks are not all that different from edibles. Instead of infusing cannabis in a gummy or chocolate bar, it is infused into a liquid using one of several methods. To get more scientific, the infusion can take place through CO2 extraction, short-path distillation, or emulsification.

For those of us who have forgotten what we learned in high school chemistry, this means that it is difficult to infuse cannabis extract since it is in oil form. Because of this, producers have to work a little magic so that the cannabis blends throughout the mixture, and you don’t end up with, you know, stems stuck in your teeth.

Like edibles, beverages offer a smoke-free alternative if your lungs need a break, or if you find yourself in a setting where it isn’t legal to spark up.

Canadian law limits producers to a maximum of 10mg of THC per cannabis beverage, meaning that it is a low-risk way for new customers to try it at their own pace.

A CBD-infused drink typically produces a calming effect among its other benefits, and it helps to balance out the psychoactive effects of THC on the body.

The Armstrong Block Tour of Downtown is heading to the library!

If your idea of a great time is getting high and then relaxing with a good book, then look no further than the Stanley A. Milner (Downtown) Library (sometimes lovingly referred to as the ‘Bibliotank’). It’s Edmonton’s largest library and even if you don’t have a library card, it’s a great place to browse and hang out. It’s also a fantastic place to get some quiet time away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

(Plus, it’s only a 10-minute walk from us)

Another great thing about this place (and libraries in general) is that libraries are one of the only places where there is no obligation (or expectation) to spend money--you can just be, which can be a welcome reprieve, especially if you’re feeling a little stoned.

There has never been a better time to check it out, either, as the library underwent an extensive revitalization project that reimagined and updated the library for the modern era that anyone with even a passing interest in architecture can appreciate. The new additions include maker spaces, a computer lab, a black box studio, a culinary centre, and a gaming room.

While you’re there, make sure to check out The Wall-- a 2-storey, 40 ft wide immersive digital installation where you can check out everything from dinosaurs, Bernoulli’s principle of aerodynamics, the Great Barrier Reef, and classic carnival games!

For those into vinyl, the library has one of the biggest lending collections of records in North America, and it’s guaranteed to have something you like, regardless of your fave artists or musical tastes.
