This Saturday, Oct 17th at 1pm Ada, Workshop Idylwylde is teaching Visible Mending: jeans repair. This one time workshop will develop foundational sewing and repair skills, focusing on patching a pair of jeans in a uniquely beautiful way.

Cooler temperatures are just around the corner in Edmonton, and that chill has us reaching for our knits! This sample was knitted by Ros, using the Rowan Mohair Tweed yarn. It can be found on the left wall of the shop once you enter our doors.

We’re delighted to be carrying the ever popular Rowan Felted Tweed yarn, and the Mohair Tweed in a variety of colours. We hope you find the perfect shade for your next project!

We have a new yarn to share with you that practically glows. Meet Firefly Aran by King Cole Yarns & Patterns! This Aran weight polyester acrylic yarn has an eye catching, almost metallic sheen to it.

Eek! Cutting your knitting can be scary, but we have a class to help with that.

This Sunday, Oct 4th at 1:30pm we’re hosting an intro to steeks class with Kirsten. You’ll knit your colourwork piece ahead of time, and then we’ll cut them and learn how to reinforce the steeks as a group.

Tomorrow, September 30th marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – Every Child Matters.

Our shop will be open from 1130am to 4pm. We will be donating a percentage of our sales for the day to Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society.

If you are unable to attend local September 30th programming re National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, such as that hosted by Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society , we want to mention that, “In honour of the sixth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (NDTR), APTN, the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, CBC/Radio-Canada and the Algonquin Nation have united to produce a 90-minute multilingual commemorative gathering, entitled Remembering the Children: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation” for which a live national CBC TV broadcast begins at 10am Edmonton time on September 30, 2026.

Highland Alpaca Chunky Tweed is a comfortably soft yarn perfect for heavy-weight sweaters and colour-work. The tweed content is created by dyeing and felting raw wool. With its crisp stitch definition, this yarn is the perfect match for textured accessories and classic cabled sweaters.
- 60% Superfine Alpaca, 40% Mulesing Free Wool
- Hand wash in cold water and lay flat to dry.
