There are still a few bottles of The Olive Nook’s Premium Infused Olive Oils and Vinegars

My teenager actually wanted to hangout with me today! We took a little drive out to and spent some time browsing through all the lovely locally made goods! It’s definitely a must see.

On our way back about a block down the road we stumbled across Blake’s Bakery! Do not go past this place without stopping in! These cinnamon buns are the size of my face.... raisins or no raisins, you can choose. I know it’s a touchy subject.

Hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the last few weeks of summer!

Well we emptied out our little spot at the Blue Jar Antique Mall over the weekend, but we also dropped a bunch of our beautiful dried lavender bundles off

I have some good news and I have some bad news...

As The Olive Nook reaches its third fiscal year end, I have decided not to take the little business into 2022. Which means as of August 31st, 2021, we will no longer be operational. That’s the bad news...

The good news is you can still grab a few bottles from some of our favourite places around town while supplies last.

Checkout on Whyte Ave. I love this little shop! Full of handpicked one of a kind antique treasures, fresh flowers, and gourmet treats!

is stocked up! Stop in for a bottle or two. Checkout their deli selections and don’t forget the sourdough!

Take a mini road trip to in Stony Plain. This space is a beautiful collaboration of local artisans. Handmade home decor, soaps and candles, they even have a children’s selection of funky clothes and toys!

You can still stop by our home away from home until July 31st for a few of your favourite flavours. Be sure to take a walk around, checkout all the unique findings!

Thank you to everyone who has supported us through this journey. We’ve made some great friends, learned a few lessons, had a few laughs, ate some really good food.... and for that we are grateful.

Roasted balsamic strawberries, mascarpone, on toasted basil crostini.

This one really surprised me, I couldn’t believe the flavour level of the roasted strawberries. It was like tasting a strawberry for the first time all over again!

These would be perfect for a Saturday afternoon with a good friend and a bottle of Zinfandel. Easy to prepare, just right for a picnic basket!

I used about 10 large strawberries sliced in half, roasted them at 375* on a parchment paper lined baking sheet for 10 minutes, then drained off the bit of liquid there was. I drizzled the berries with about 2 tablespoons of The Olive Nook’s Dark Raspberry Balsamic, and returned them to the oven for another 15-20 minutes.

In the meantime I sliced my loaf, brushed it with The Olive Nook’s Basil Infused Olive Oil and broiled the slices for a quick minute, until they were golden.

Once your crostini is done top with mascarpone and berries, gently scrape the balsamic reduction from the baking sheet (it will be sticky) and top the berries.

Roasted balsamic strawberries will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days. I’m excited to try them on ice cream now!

You can find our gourmet Infused Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars at a few neat places around town, listed below. Hope everyone enjoys berry season!

Late post this evening, but maybe it will inspire you for Monday evening! One pot! Potatoes, corn on the cob, farmers sausage, shrimp. Boiled it all up, strained it, then doused it all in The Olive Nook’s Garlic Infused Olive Oil, salt and pepper to taste and a few lime wedges! I wish I had a bit of a better picture but it was steamy and we were hungry! Hot, steamy, delicious and simple! Wishing everyone a great week ahead!

Remember the good old days when you could walk into The Olive Nook and freely sample all of our infused oils and vinegars, and I’d offer you that really good vegan sourdough to dip and you’d be like “WOW that is really good” and then you’d be like “Where did you get that bread?” and I’d be like “This really great little bakery by the name of Dutch Delicious”. Remember that?

Well now you can head over to and alongside all of their beautiful artisan breads, you can now find a few of The Olive Nook’s Gourmet Infused Olive Oils and Aged Balsamic.

When you walk in you get that old school mercantile felling, with friendly staff always happy to help. We are so pleased to have our bottles on the shelf!

They also carry a great selection of deli meats, cheeses and allllll kinds of chocolate! One stop for all of your charcuterie needs! Curb side pick up available.

We are so excited to showcase our Gourmet Olive Oils and Balsamic Vinegars at this spring’s “Work of Our Hands Showcase”.

Hosted in Bon Accord by Heather herself! Heather is a treasure to the Alberta potters community, with over 45 years experience creating unique handmade pieces. Not only does she make beautiful one of a kind creations, she’s also a gem of a human being! It’s a treat just to be in the shop for a chat.

Twice a year she rallies up some of Alberta’s great makers, and we get to fill her shop with tons of locally handmade goods.

Everything from, pottery, giftware, soaps, jewelry, clothing, treats for you and even treats for your pup! Lots of neat stuff for Mother’s Day!

The show starts April 29th and runs until May 4th. Due to Covid,Heather has taken the time to ensure your shopping experience will be safe and enjoyable, by creating personal shopping time slots (no drop ins please). Head over to Pottery by Heather’s website to book a time that works best for you at www.potterybyheather.com.

This is a great way to enjoy a mini road trip and support local artisans. A huge thank you to Heather for putting it all together!

It was a beautiful day to work in the yard today in , it was also a great evening to graze this tasty board with my better half in front of the game!

I loaded this one with veggie sandwiches drizzled with The Olive Nook’s Tuscan Herb Infused Olive Oil. Stopped by for some beautiful meats and cheeses, including their house made Piccolo. Sliced apples, almonds, havarti, all pulled together with Peach Prosecco Sparkling Jam and our very own Aged Maple Balsamic! I had to pull out the vintage Rolex spoons! Savoury and sweet. Perfect for an win!
