As many of you may already be aware, Urban Bird is now permanently closed. We just couldn't make it, and that's a very bitter pill to swallow. Even with our seed log manufacturing and a rented mezzanine, it still wasn't enough. Angry? You bet I am. I wasn't given an opportunity to have a close out sale and say goodbye to all of you before my journey to the Northwest Territories to join my husband. I'll recover, but it will take some time.
To each and every one of you who came through our doors, followed us on social media, and commented on all my silly photos and videos, I sincerely thank you for your business, your friendship and for making Urban Bird your wild bird supply destination. It was such a pleasure to meet each and every one of you and made coming to work so much fun.
To all the other great tenants in Manchester Square, it was a sincere pleasure to meet you too. I wish you all the best of luck.
I will be closing out my Facebook account, only because I upgraded my phone, and I don't have the time or energy to figure out how to log into it from my new phone.
I will continue with my Instagram account though (with a few changes), as I actually enjoy posting photos and videos of the birds I encounter every day. I can't wait to see what's in store for me in the Arctic Circle (redpolls, I hope!).
We have handed our seed log manufacturing business over to our bird seed distributor, which means you will still be able to purchase our seed logs from a few retailers in Edmonton (G&E Pharmacy on the south side has been confirmed). I am also hoping that our suet balls will be added to the list of products the distributor will carry. I will keep you posted on all of this.
This most certainly isn't the post I ever wanted to share. Opening a small business is hard and comes with great risks. Picking the right location is one of the keys to success, and I picked the wrong one, I have no doubt about that.
I wish all of you the best and perhaps we can see each other again some day!
