The celebration of Kupala (also known as Summer Solstice) when nights are the shortest and believed to be the only time of the year when the earth revealed its secrets. Ferns bloomed to mark places where its treasures were buried, the trees spoke and moved, and the wild witches gathered.

Many of the rites related to this holiday are connected with the role of water in fertility and ritual purification. Young people jump over the flames of bonfires in a ritual test of bravery and faith. The failure of a couple in love to complete the jump, while holding hands, is a sign of their destined separation.

The fires were also used to burn herbs gathered in the previous year & various items of no further use, particularly those that had been blessed with holy water & could therefore not be discarded by normal means. The fires were never extinguished, but were always allowed to smoulder out.

Girls would float wreaths of flowers (often lit with candles) on rivers, and attempt to gain foresight into their romantic relationship fortune from the flow patterns of the flowers on the river. Men would attempt to capture the wreaths, in the hope of capturing the interest of the woman who had floated it.

There was also an ancient belief that on the eve of Ivan Kupala ferns would bloom and this would only happen at this time of year. Prosperity, luck, power, & discernment befall all who find this elusive fern flower. On that night, village folk roamed through the forests in search of different magical herbs, & the fern flower.

This mini floating wreath (if you will) kit can be put together with it’s offerings, and then jumped over it to prove your love, bravery, to bring sacrifice & acknowledgment to the upcoming end of the summer solstice & the upcoming harvest.

May your families crops be plentiful and your world full of prosperity. This kit comes with almost everything you need to construct this candle, all you need to supply is the water!

When they are gone they are gone!

Extremely rare compared to the lighter yellow shades of amber, Blue Amber brings clarity and focus, enhances communication, and intuition. It serves as a guide for those seeking inner peace. It clears the mind of distractions and unwanted thoughts, aiding in focus and concentration.

In Ukrainian folklore, people think that the stars in the sky are lit candles or the souls of the dead. Large number of stars seen in the night sky are an omen of prosperity, wealth, and good harvests. This included plentiful grain, fruit, livestock, berries, and mushrooms.

Associated with time, cycles, and longevity. As it was once a living substance, it’s related to spirit. People adorned these amulets to avert misfortune, for protection, and to keep one safe from black magic. They cast out devils, guarded against evil eye, brought luck in love, and made the owner stronger and cleverer.

This precious resin comes from the extinct Hymenaea Proter tree. Combined with specific geological conditions, this resin gave birth to blue amber, making this gem as rare as it is precious. Warm to the touch and alleged to contain the very essence of life itself. People believed Amber “pulled out” diseases from the body and “attracted” good luck. Much in the way it attracts dust when rubbed. The ancient Greeks noted this ability to generate static electricity and called Amber “elektron”.
