10 years ago, while living in Manitoba, I told my husband I dreamed of opening a little store. "It will have awesome, unique stuff. One of a kind things that I have hand chosen. I think I will call it "Lovely Things". After a cross-provincial move to Southern Ontario and several life curves later, "LoveLy" came to fruition. I felt such pride in everything from my beautifully designed logo, to the placement of each and every hand-crafted item in the shop. I had the wonderful experience of meeting some amazing people. Locals who would come in, just to chat, to the tourists who made a point to come by LoveLy, looking for my Gift Card Earrings, to the people who were return customers, and the ones who only came in to browse. To all of you, I thank you. To the people who told me that Essex 'needs a shop like this', to the woman who told me 'You won't last', I thank you. For 6 months, I got to be a business owner in all its glory, and it's suffering. Watching my perfect shop be ruined by rain water, not once, but twice in 3 months is too much. Yes, insurance should cover it, but those who have dealt with such claims, nod their head knowingly. Yes, I could sue the landlord in small claims, but that won't re-open my doors tomorrow. I am learning that the best choices are not always the easiest. Closing LoveLy, right now is for the best. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to every single person who has supported me through this. Whether with words, labour, favors, purchases, advice, lunch, wine (!), and hugs. Thank you. To me, you are all LoveLy.

For those of you following the situation between myself and the BIA, I have received a response from MaryAnne Bjorkman, Chair of the Essex BIA. In a lengthy letter, she addresses, diplomatically, some of the issues which have only served to causes me more questions. However, on their page, things have taken a bit of a political turn. You know how when one feels guilty, the natural response it to try and turn the tables and divert the attention, namely back to me? Well, I had stated that I had never heard of any info regarding monthly meetings by way of newsletter, snail mail or other, as they state was sent to everyone...Well I was corrected.

Luci Kaye I am absolutely THRILLED at the invitation! I can't wait!!!!
I would also like to add that I am not 'Bashing Volunteers". I am questioning an organization that takes money, and what it is exactly that is being done with said money. Big difference from "Bashing" Defensive much? Also, if Volunteers are too busy to run a successful and efficient BIA, then perhaps its time to step down from said position.

Oh... And Spring?.... We're now fall!... But hey, business stops in Summer, right? And no more monies are collected for the BIA during Summer months.. Right?
Am I missing anything else?
I can't WAIT to see if I will actually get voted in to the board.
Best believe I am applying.
