...meanwhile, in Temagami, it was a family affair. Logan caught this smallmouth bass on his new rod-reel combo spooled with HFB Gear multi-species braid. His technique was 'old school'...worm-on-a-hook! Looks like Mom helped with the live release and Dad took the photo. Nice catch, Logan!

Got out on Monday, June 29th in the evening. Jeff and Evan (father and son) making some memories. We were throwing chatterbaits and swimbaits. HFB Gear multi-species 20lb. braid with flouro leaders in 7-10' on Lake Erie. Missed a couple larger smallies on a Whopper Plopper. 'Elbows up!' Happy Canada Day!

...fished shallow on the US side of the upper Niagara River with Gaspare Costabile in his 522D Ranger, yesterday. We both used HFB Gear #1 dropshot hooks and most of our smallies were caught on a Lew's combo...7'3" med-heavy rod and Custom Lite baitcaster spooled with 12lb. flourocarbon. Bass averaged 3-4lbs. with a couple tipping the scales at 5lbs.

I mentioned a 7plus smallie in the last post. Roy Young touched base today and shared some details that surrounded boating a 7.235lb. bass while dropshotting a #2 HFB Gear hook in 21' of Port Colborne water. A Berkley MaxScent Flatnose Minnow was the 'lure de jour'. Paired with Fireline Crystal and a 5' Sunline flouro leader, the 7' St.Croix-Stradic combo was the ticket on Nov.22 of last year! Appreciate the feedback, Roy!
