Zero Waste Week had me thinking about ALL the things I could be doing…

Grow my own food. Sew. Repair everything. Compost everything. Become completely self-sufficient.

And honestly? These are all great ideas.

But let’s be realistic. Life already has approximately 47 things on the to-do list.

So maybe we start a little smaller.

Refill the bottle you already have.
Reuse what you can.
Buy only what you need.
Choose one thing to do a little differently.

It doesn’t have to be perfect to make a difference.

Zero Waste Week starts today.

You don’t have to completely change the way you live to create less waste. Sometimes it starts with something as simple as reusing what you already have.

Instead of tossing that empty cleaning bottle, rinse it, refill it, and use it again.

A sweet local refill run from earlier this week ♻️

I picked up a bunch of glass bottles from our favourite local candy shop, and while I was there, obviously I had to grab some candy too.

Getting to work with other businesses and helping them make the switch to reusable bottles is one of the best parts of running YMM Refillery.

Also… the candy was definitely a bonus.

We’re so excited to share that YMM Refillery has a new home! 💚

While we’re sad to be leaving Absolute Serendipity, we’re incredibly excited to continue the Refillery at our new location inside Caribou Flowers Plants and Gifts.

We’re so grateful for all the support, friendships, and memories made at our first home. This may be a new space, but the heart of the Refillery remains the same.

A huge thank you to Caribou Flowers for welcoming us into their space. And as we get settled, we ask for a little patience and kindness with their team as they learn the ins and outs of the Refillery. We’re so excited to continue bringing refills and low-waste living to our community.

Don’t worry — the Refillery isn’t going anywhere 💚

While our current home is closing, I’m working behind the scenes on what comes next for YMM Refillery.

This part has been especially hard. Both for me personally, and this little business. After working at Absolute Serendipity for more than 7 years, Nathalie and my coworkers have become family. It’s been difficult saying goodbye to a place that has been such a big part of my life.

I know the Refillery is loved by many too and I’m going to make sure we continue to refill all your favourites.

I’m not quite ready to spill all the details yet… but please keep those empty bottles. You’re going to need them.

NEW at YMM Refillery 🧺

Fabric softener, but not quite the kind you’re used to.

Restocked. Because nobody woke up today thinking, ‘You know what sounds fun? Handwashing dishes.’

Dishwasher tabs are back. Because apparently we’re expected to clean the dishes after we’ve already had the audacity to eat.

A little update from YMM Refillery.

As many of you have seen, Absolute Serendipity is currently facing an uncertain time as they approach the end of their lease.

While we don’t yet know exactly what the next steps will look like, I wanted to let you know that YMM Refillery is hoping to continue alongside the store if they relocate.

And if a new location isn’t possible for the store, I’ll be looking for a new home for the Refillery so we can continue offering your favourite refills here in Fort McMurray.

There are still a lot of unknowns, so for now, it’s simply a matter of taking things one step at a time and seeing where it leads.

Thank you for supporting this little corner of the store, for bringing your containers back, choosing refills, sharing posts, and telling your friends about YMM Refillery.

I’m looking forward to seeing where this journey takes us next.

This is one of the hardest posts we’ve ever had to write.

After nearly 10 years, Absolute Serendipity is at a crossroads.

Our lease is ending, and while we’re still working hard to find a way to continue, including the possibility of relocating, we have to prepare for the possibility that our time in this location is coming to an end.

As we prepare for whatever comes next, we’ll soon be launching our Next Chapter Sale.

If you’ve been meaning to start a paint project, find a unique gift, or simply stop in and say hello, now is the time. Every visit and every purchase means more than you know.
