As many of you may have noticed CHFCo. Bouquets were noticeably absent from foods last summer and this social media account.
Years of working a full time office job and maintaining the garden in all the off hours between May and September finally took its toll. I donโt know who needs to hear this but the hustle culture and mentality (sorry Sophia, IYKYN) thatโs been pushed in society, especially on women is actually just a big fat lie. You canโt do it all, not forever anyway.
There was a lot of time last summer spent in guilt and feeling like an complete failure for not even having the energy to cut a bouquet. Somehow the garden still managed to thrive wildly despite not being weeded, watered or the rows managed or cut for the last 2.5 months of the growing seasonโฆthere was barely a good stem cut.
Looking back now any regret has just been filled with happy memories of weddings, BBQs, road trips, rodeos, pool hangs, boating days and all the things summer should be!
It wasnโt an easy decision to step back but we will no longer be selling bouquets. The focus will be solely on supporting others who want to grow their own bouquets though our Curated Cutting Gardens while we continue to experiment with landscaping in the north with perennials and flowering shrubs!
Thank you to everyone that supported over the years, bought bouquets and gardens and loved our flowers!
Huge thank you to Steve and Trish for being the biggest cheerleaders and supporters and giving me a place to start. You guys are absolute gems and it was so fun to be a part of the community through your beautiful store!
Shoutout to my neighbours for not reporting the garden to bylaw last summer. Promise this year itโs gonna be on point! ๐
Keep following along for more flowery content! ๐
