“Everyone is an artist. Some people just haven’t found their medium yet. Or their medium hasn’t found them.”

After relocating from Victoria, BC to Saint John, New Brunswick in 2022, Denis discovered that his medium was stained glass. What began as a new creative pursuit has become a passion for crafting one-of-a-kind pieces that celebrate colour, texture, light, and perspective.

Rather than following rigid patterns, Denis takes a spontaneous approach, allowing each cut of glass to shape the next. The result is a collection of unique works that are guided as much by the creative process as by the finished design. Each piece is box framed, making it equally at home hanging on a wall or catching the light from a windowsill or mantle.

We’re excited to welcome Denis as one of our newest artists to The Artisan District!

We’re happy to introduce our newest woodworker- Mark McDevitt! Born in Saint John and a resident of Kennebecasis Valley, Mark has always enjoyed working with wood. He leans heavily into artistic expression and letting the wood influence the final piece. Measuring and following plans has less priority and discovering what secrets are hidden inside a piece of wood becomes the primary focus. Many times, a piece is started with just a rough idea but no fixed plan at all. Revealing what is hidden inside ultimately determines the final form, making each creation truly one of a kind. Come visit us downtown and explore Mark’s work in person!

Introducing Yukari Iverson the maker behind Pottery Hazama. A graduate of NBCCD, Yukari creates functional stoneware designed to be enjoyed every day. Inspired by the comfort of soft colours and rounded forms, each piece is crafted to bring both beauty and joy to daily rituals. Using durable red stoneware and traditional Japanese enamelling techniques, her work blends artistry with practicality, creating pottery meant to be held, used, and cherished. We feel privileged to carry Yukari’s work.

We are excited to introduce you (on one of the hottest days of the year 😅) to two of our newest artists - Kathleen and David Colquhoun of Colquhoun’s Carvings. These hand-carved, old-world Santa’s are heirloom pieces, each one unique. David is a self-taught carver and carved his first Santa for Kathleen as a Christmas gift when they were poor students and could not afford gifts. That talent has spread to Kathleen and now they create together from their home in Fredericton. They are incredible and worth dropping in to see!
