Turkey Daze was seriously insane!!!

The youth brigade blew everyone away, and came to slay from Gabriola, Salty, Nanaimo, .skates_ and many more!

Then some serious hammers got dropped and a rad free skate ensued with .bossss bringing some sweet moves in the afternoon.

Matt did a killer job on the mic and and Dave reid bbq’d some dogs, keeping everyone fed and hydrated.

Ian & fam from Black Cat press were up from Cumberland with sweet home pressed skate goods, showing up for the new collab. (Elliot White) was at the merch table singing our collab decks and utilizing the intersection of skateboarding and art to share important stories of Snuneymuxw history.

Then night fell.

The skate park was transformed into an intergalactic stargate, bending time and space towards the skate dimension!!!! Lights were flashing, bodies moving, skateboards flying, as the sounds of Thrums, and blasted the island, echoing as far south as Ferne rd, the skatepark becoming a sonic pyramid that tore apart the space time continuum. It was epic.

More about the ‘Got Stoned on Gabe’ print from

This artwork is a cheeky reference to all the Snuneymuxw stories about people transformed into stone on Gabriola Island. Our ancestors turned into stone are still living on the island, each stone itself is a being. There are people who live inside the stone. In the history of colonization some of these stone people have been vandalized and destroyed. The humour of this artwork is intentional and lighthearted, but it is also an access point to share about this complex history.

We are so honored to present these deck collaborations with amazingly talented Snuneymuxw artist and local Van isle skateboard press

This will be a limited run of ten hand made, hand pressed decks, based on kwulasultan’s work of a Transformer story on Gabriola, Snuneymuxw territory.

This is as local as it gets and we are so honored to co-present this. They will be available at Gabriola’s first skate/punk fest, Turkey Daze, sat sept 16th. Get one of these important works of art and history while you can.
