☀️ Another beautiful summer day is here, and there’s no better place to spend it than at the historic International Lounge at Gander International Airport!

Whether you’re a lifelong local or visiting our community for the first time, take some time to experience one of Gander’s most iconic landmarks. Once known as the “Crossroads of the World,” the International Lounge welcomed travellers from around the globe and became a symbol of hospitality, connection, and Newfoundland kindness.

For so many of us, this building is filled with memories. Who remembers searching for coins tucked into the famous yellow chairs before heading off to buy an ice cream? 🍦 It was a simple tradition that brought so much excitement, and it’s a memory many families still share today.

Today, we celebrate the people, places, and stories that make Canada so special.

As we gather with family and friends, we also take a moment to recognize Memorial Day in Newfoundland and Labrador, honouring the brave Newfoundlanders who served and sacrificed, particularly those lost at Beaumont-Hamel on July 1, 1916. Their courage and legacy will never be forgotten.

If you’re looking for a fun way to spend your Canada Day, stop by the historic International Lounge!

🍦 Enjoy a delicious ice cream while exploring one of Gander’s most iconic landmarks.

We are thrilled to announce that Gander Goods, operated by the International Lounge Foundation, is now the official merchandise retailer for Come From Away at the Arts and Culture Centre!

There truly couldn’t be a more meaningful partnership.

The story of Come From Away is rooted in one of the most remarkable moments in Gander’s history. Following the events of September 11, 2001, our community welcomed thousands of stranded travellers with open arms, reminding the world that kindness, compassion, and humanity have no borders. That spirit continues to define who we are today.

As an organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of Gander’s International Lounge and our community’s aviation legacy, it is an honour for Gander Goods to help visitors take home a piece of that incredible story.
