Is your plant struggling, or is your soil just failing to do its job?

When potting soil dries out completely, it becomes hydrophobic. This means when you pour water into the pot, the water simply slides right down the inside edges and drains out the bottom without ever reaching the roots. Your plant stays thirsty, no matter how often you water it.

To fix this, soil needs a minimum amount of moisture. This ensures every drop of water you pour actually goes around the root zone instead of draining away unused.

Check your pots this week, if the soil is pulling away from the edges, it’s time to reset your baseline moisture.

Every home gardener knows the feeling. You spend your weekend planting, only to look out a few days later and see w**ds aggressively taking over your beds.
