This month, I’m challenging myself to run 100 km for cancer. 🎗️

I’m running for my family, my friends, and everyone whose life has been affected by cancer. Like so many of us, I’ve watched people I care about face this disease, and I wanted to turn that into motivation to do something positive.

For me, this challenge is also about making each day this month count toward becoming a healthier, stronger version of myself. 100 km is going to be a challenge, but knowing that every kilometer is helping support something much bigger than me will be my motivation to keep going.

If you choose to donate to my page, thank you so much. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement means more than you know.

And there’s a little extra motivation to finish strong! As we get closer to the end of the challenge, Sarah Ashley Events will match the donations made to my page, up to $500! ❤️

So please join me along the way and help me spread the word, cheer me on as I work my way toward 100 km, and together, let’s continue the fight against cancer.

Here’s to 100 km, a healthier me, and doing something meaningful along the way. 🎗️🏃‍♀️

✨ Real Wedding Friday! ✨

Last week, I had the privilege of designing the flowers for Colleen & Brandon's beautiful wedding at Whistle Bear Golf Club. 🤍

They exchanged vows in the stunning Garden Chapel before celebrating with family and friends in the elegant Grandview Room.

Their floral design featured a beautiful blend of our Forever Flowers and fresh blooms, creating a timeless, romantic look throughout the venue. It was the perfect combination of elegance, texture, and lush seasonal florals.

My only regret? I never managed to snap a photo of Colleen's bouquet! 🌸 It was one of my favourite designs, and I was so caught up in the excitement of the day that I completely forgot.

Congratulations again, Colleen & Brandon! Thank you for trusting me to be a part of such a special day. Wishing you both a lifetime of love and happiness! 🤍✨

✨ New Line Available – Meet Forever Wild! 🌿

We're so excited to introduce Forever Wild—a collection designed for all of life’s special celebrations.

Perfect for bridal showers, baby showers, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, and so much more.

Our smallest package starts at $450 and includes 10 bud vases and one beautiful bouquet—the perfect way to add an elevated floral touch to your celebration.

Not sure exactly what you need? That’s the fun part! Simply share your colour palette with us, and we’ll take care of the rest. Every order is beautifully unique, inspired by what’s in season and available that week. 🌸

Need more? No problem! We can customize your order with additional flowers, candles, backdrops, and other styling details to create a truly memorable experience.

Forever Wild is also a beautiful option for couples looking to incorporate fresh flowers and Forever Flowers together—using fresh blooms where they matter most while adding timeless silk pieces to enhance ceremony spaces, backdrops, and larger installations.

Did we mention we love keeping things local? 🌿 From June–September, we do our best to source locally grown flowers whenever possible, bringing you the beauty of the season while supporting our local flower farmers.

✨ Let’s make your next celebration bloom! ✨

✨ Monday Wedding Wisdom ✨

Wondering when to book your florist? Earlier than you might think!

Here's the timeline I typically recommend:

🌸 12–18 Months Before: Secure Your Date

I generally don't book weddings more than 18 months in advance. Why? The floral industry is constantly changing, and fresh flower pricing can be affected by world events, weather, and availability.

Take wax flower, for example. Much of it comes from Israel, and due to current events, the bunches have become much smaller and significantly more expensive. It's a good reminder that flowers are a fresh product, and flexibility is important when planning your wedding florals.

✨ 6–8 Months Before: Finalize Your Vision

This is when I like to have your floral recipes confirmed and flowers ordered. If you're still deciding on those last table details, now is the time to solidify them. Having a clear plan in place helps ensure we can source everything needed to bring your vision to life.

💐 45 Days Before: Confirm the Details

I schedule final meetings around 45 days before the wedding. By this point, you'll typically have your guest count finalized, and we can make any last-minute adjustments. Whether your numbers have increased or decreased, there's still time to update floral orders and make sure everything is just right.

The biggest piece of advice I can give couples? Book your florist when you've secured your venue and have a general idea of your floral priorities. You don't need every little detail figured out before reaching out.

💕 We can work through the rest together.

Save this post if wedding planning is on your to-do list, and send it to a newly engaged friend who isn't sure when to start booking their vendors!

Real Wedding Friday 🤍💙🌿
Erin & Joel | May 22, 2026

On May 22nd, we ventured into Cambridge Mill for Erin and Joel's beautiful wedding celebration in one of my favourite spaces there—the Garden Terrace.

Why do I love this room so much? First, the load-in is incredibly easy since it's located on the main floor. But my favourite feature has to be the dance floor area. It's separate from the reception space, creating a really unique atmosphere, complete with lounge furniture where guests can relax and enjoy the evening.

Erin and Joel envisioned an airy, garden-inspired celebration, and their colour palette was absolutely stunning. Soft dusty blues, delicate blush tones, and crisp whites came together beautifully. And can we talk about the blush ranunculus? I can't even begin to tell you how gorgeous they were. Our suppliers absolutely nailed it!

Not only was every floral detail beautiful, but this wedding was also filled with so much love and support from family and friends. Erin's family helped bring many of her DIY ideas to life, including a beautiful bookshelf seating chart she created herself. With all the extra little details she added her aunts were there making sure every part of Erin's vision was executed perfectly. It was such a wonderful reminder of just how loved this couple truly is.

I am so happy for you both. When I returned later in the evening and saw everyone out on the dance floor for the final song, it was clear just how much fun was being had.

Erin and Joel, keep dancing, keep laughing, and keep enjoying this beautiful life together. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness as you begin this next chapter. 💕

✨ Real Wedding Feature ✨

Alyson & David tied the knot on June 29th at the beautiful Elora Mill, and what a perfect day it was! 🤍

Working with Alyson and her mom was such a joy—they made every meeting so much fun, and seeing their vision come to life was incredibly rewarding.

Their romantic blush and white floral palette complemented the Mill beautifully. From a lush ceremony mantel installation and floral-lined aisle to repurposing the mantel behind the sweetheart table for the reception, every detail came together seamlessly.

With gorgeous weather and so much love in the room, it truly was a wedding to remember. Congratulations again, Alyson & David! 💕🌸

✨ Monday Wedding Wisdom ✨

**When and where do Forever Flowers fit into a wedding?**

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is that you have to choose either fresh flowers or Forever Flowers for your entire wedding. The truth? The most beautiful designs often use a combination of both.

🌸 **Forever Flowers vs. Fresh Flowers**

For couples working within a tighter budget or for those experiencing allergies, Forever Flowers can be the perfect fit. They also shine during the heat of summer and in outdoor spaces, where fresh flowers can wilt throughout the day. Forever Flowers stay beautiful from the first look to the last dance.

💐 **Personal Flowers**

When it comes to bouquets and boutonnieres, I always recommend fresh flowers. Personal flowers tend to have a lot of sentimental value, and many of my couples choose to preserve their bouquets after the wedding in a beautiful keepsake piece.

🌿 **Bud Vases**

Over the years, I've moved away from using Forever Flowers in bud vases whenever possible. Fresh flowers simply have a softness and movement that I love in these smaller arrangements. I especially enjoy incorporating locally grown blooms when they're in season.

✨ **Large Floral Installations**

This is where Forever Flowers truly shine. Ceremony meadows, arches, statement arrangements, and larger installations are a wonderful opportunity to use silks or even a mix of fresh and Forever Flowers. You can create a grand look while stretching your floral budget and save your fresh blooms for the guest tables and personal flowers.

There is no right or wrong choice when it comes to wedding flowers. The best designs are the ones that fit your vision, priorities, and budget.

💕 The beauty of today's Forever Flowers is that they allow couples to have the look they love without compromising on style.

Save this post if you're deciding between fresh flowers, Forever Flowers, or a little bit of both!

Real Wedding Friday ✨

This is a throwback to the crazy wedding season of 2020. As I was looking through old photos, I couldn't help but revisit some of the intimate wedding days from that year. Despite all of the uncertainty, there was something so incredibly special about these smaller celebrations.

This beautiful wedding took place at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto. Amy and Zac were such a wonderful couple to work with, and they partnered with one of my favourite planners, Alicia Thompson. I was fortunate enough to collaborate with Alicia on many occasions before she moved out west. 💕

Fun fact: Just as the ceremony was about to begin, we had the aisle perfectly lined with candles. The couple had created the sweetest setup, with small tables, florals, placed along the aisle to help maintain distancing while still making guests feel connected.

Then, the skies opened up.

One side of the ceremony space was exposed to the elements, and it absolutely downpoured! My team and I ran out to rescue as many candles as we could while everyone quickly shifted into problem-solving mode. Alicia calmly reimagined the ceremony layout, turning it to face the covered side of the venue and repurposing the rescued candles behind the chuppah instead.

Was it the original plan? No.

Was it still beautiful? Absolutely.

It became one of those unforgettable reminders that weddings aren't about perfection — they're about celebrating love, embracing the unexpected, and creating memories you'll laugh about for years to come. And honestly, it's one of my favourite memories from the 2020 wedding season. 🤍

Candles can completely transform a reception—but how many do you actually need?

While every wedding design is different, here are my minimum recommendations to create that beautiful glow without the tables feeling sparse.

🕯️ Round Tables
I recommend starting with at least 3 mixed-size candles and adding a few smaller votive candles to create different heights and layers. The varying sizes help add depth and make the table feel warm and inviting.

🕯️ Harvest Tables
For an 8-foot harvest table, I wouldn't go with any less than 5 candles. This is a more minimal approach, but it still creates an impactful glow down the centre of the table. If your budget allows, adding a few more can make an even bigger statement.

🕯️ Head Tables
The number of candles will depend on the style and size of your table, as well as how many floral arrangements you're incorporating. For a sweetheart table, I love creating candle clusters on either side with an arrangement in the centre for a romantic and balanced look.

🕯️ Welcome Tables
Welcome tables can vary greatly in length, but for a longer table, I suggest using at least 5 candles arranged in small clusters. This helps create intentional moments of interest and gives guests a beautiful first impression as they arrive.

The biggest mistake I see? Not using enough candles. Even just a few extra can completely change the atmosphere of your reception and bring so much warmth and romance to your space.

✨ Save this post for your wedding planning folder and refer back to it when you're designing your reception décor!

Real Wedding Friday ✨

Caitie and Conrad chose one of our pickup wedding packages and celebrated their beautiful day at The Wren House in St. Jacobs. The venue was absolutely stunning, with its charming European flair creating the perfect backdrop for their celebration.

Their florals complemented the space beautifully, featuring a romantic blend of lavenders, soft blues, and crisp whites with a natural, wildflower-inspired feel. The overall look was elegant yet effortless, perfectly suited to the atmosphere of the day.

Thank you both so much for sharing your photos with me. 💕 One of my favourite parts of this job is getting to see how all of the carefully chosen pieces come together on the wedding day. From the flowers and décor to the little details that make each celebration unique, it's so special to witness the final vision come to life.

Congratulations again, Caitie and Conrad, and thank you for allowing Sarah Ashley events to be a small part of such a beautiful chapter in your story.
