You can build a backyard rink on a tennis court — we’ve had lots of customers do it! But here’s what to consider:

✔️ Make sure the surface can handle it — newer or specialty tennis courts might need extra protection
✔️ Use a high-quality liner to avoid leaks
✔️ Check with a pro if your court has a sensitive finish

It’s a great way to repurpose space in the off-season — just make sure you’re set up for success.

This winter brought early mornings, late-night floods, backyard laughter, and memories that will last far longer than the ice.

To the families who built rinks together.
To the kids who didn’t want to come inside.
To the neighbors who stopped by “just to watch.”

Thank you for making RinkMaster part of your traditions.

The more skating your rink gets, the faster the surface breaks down. Skates carve. Pucks chip. Kids test physics.

That’s normal — and it means your rink is being used the right way.

The fix?
✔ Regular flooding
✔ Light touch-ups after heavy sessions
✔ The right tools to make it easy

Leaves, snow chunks, sticks, and debris all affect ice quality if left behind.

A simple routine helps:
✔ Clear debris before flooding
✔ Use a shovel or broom, not sharp tools
✔ Remove snow as soon as possible
✔ Flood after cleaning for best results

Five extra minutes of care can save you hours of fixing later.

Save this for your next cleanup.

When temperatures rise, ice gets soft — even if it looks skateable. That’s when most liner damage happens.

Here’s why it’s best to call it a day when thaw starts:
❌ Skate blades cut deeper into soft ice
❌ Those cuts can reach the liner
❌ Small damage now = big problems later

Pro tip: once the ice starts to deteriorate, stop skating and let the season end cleanly. Your liner will thank you next winter.

A little restraint now means many more seasons of skating later.

Plenty of great backyard rinks are built on sloped yards. The key is leveling the frame before you flood.

A few helpful tips:
✔ Start by identifying the lowest point of your yard
✔ Use packed snow or other stable materials to level the frame
✔ Take your time here — water always finds the low spot

Once the frame is level, everything else gets much easier.
