On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we invite you to learn about the discovery of ceramics made by students at the Shubenacadie Residential School.

After finding a photo of ceramics made by students at the Shubenacadie Residential School in the 1940s and 1950s, retired Mi’kmaw Cultural Heritage Curator Roger Lewis helped locate two surviving pieces. He believes more may still exist in antique shops and private collections, and anyone with similar pieces is encouraged to contact us.

The ceramics are currently on display in the Pjila'si gallery at the Museum of Natural History.
