Hello everyone, We know it has been a long time since we posted anything, and for that we apologize. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control, Biggs & Littles Gift Shoppe will not be reopening. IWK Health does not and will not have space for us to open our gift shoppe in the foreseeable future. The space we previously occupied has been repurposed for clinics since Covid began and will continue to do so. That being said, The Auxiliary of the IWK (owners of Biggs & Littles ) will be holding a going out of business sale. Please refer to the attached poster for details. We are very grateful to everyone who has supported our store in the past. Thanks to our loyal customers we have been able to purchase a large array of care and comfort items that were used in the Health Centre to make the patients and families more comfortable while in the hospital.

In 2007, Amos Pewter began developing a rewarding partnership with the IWK Auxiliary. Since then, the friendly faces of Auxiliary volunteers have been greeting arriving cruise ship passengers at the Amos Pewter kiosk in the Dockside Shops at the Pier 22 Cruise Pavilion in downtown Halifax. The success of this partnership has resulted in over $400 000 in funds raised to support the work of the Auxiliary.

2020 was certainly a different year, one in which visitors to our beautiful corner of the world were greatly missed. The cancellation of the cruise season meant that the cruise pavilion was shut down. But when life throws you lemons, make lemonade! The artisans at Amos Pewter were excited to have been able to be part of connecting people by spreading Hugs in support of the IWK Auxiliary. Thousands of Pewter Hug Pocket Charms, specially designed for the IWK Auxiliary, were sent worldwide to friends and relatives, colleagues and customers, essential workers and even to the Prime Minister and Premiers as well as the Chief Medical Officers of Health across Canada with all proceeds of sales being donated to the Auxiliary. Over $22 000 have been raised from this initiative to-date.

Those of us living in the Maritime provinces count ourselves lucky to have IWK Health as our go-to place for the health of children, women and families in our region. It has been there for so many of us in our happiest times, our saddest times and every time in-between. The amazing volunteers at the IWK Auxiliary support the work of the health centre by providing financial and volunteer assistance to a variety of IWK programs and departments.

Hugs continue to be available in support of the IWK Auxiliary by visiting one of the Amos Pewter locations in Mahone Bay, Halifax or Peggy’s Cove & Charlottetown, PEI or on-line at amospewter.com.

Just to update you, Biggs & Littles remains closed at this time. We do not know when we will be open again but it most likely will not be in 2020. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this might cause. The IWK Auxiliary is very much looking forward to reopening the gift shoppe in the future and will let everyone know as soon as we are able to do so. As always, the health and safety of the patients must be the first priority.
