A really exciting development for me, ACMER_Official recently reached out to see what I can do with one of their P3 lasers. I've been integrating lasers into my work for some time now so this P3 is a nice little upgrade to my open gantry style laser that I've been using. With a built in 5MP HD camera, a new corexy system which means faster and more accurate performance, built in exhaust system and more power than I should probably be trusted with I'm pretty stoked to add this to the arsenal.

This was just an unboxing but stay tuned to see what I do with my new pew pew!!!

I couldn't find a clever song that was long enough so enjoy some ASMR unboxing sounds..🤷

Announcing Chris Sisson as a Session Leader for WOOD SYMPOSIUM 2026!

Chris' session is called: Thinking outside the box – Take your turning to another level with hand-chased threads

This demonstration explores how the addition of traditional hand-chased threads can be used to transform a basic turned box into something extraordinary, taking a relatively simple project to a whole new level. Beginning with a simple demonstration demystifying the fundamental techniques of thread chasing, Chris will guide you through the rhythmic "dance" of the chasers and how they are used to form precise, interlocking threads. Essential tools, lathe speeds, and material selection will be covered. By highlighting fun and creative applications, this demonstration will provide inspiration and motivation needed to move beyond simple friction fit lids and explore more complex and creative construction.

I spent yesterday evening making friends with friendship cups at the Toronto Woodturners Guild TWG. They were such a wonderful and engaging bunch of folks. Lots of great questions and no shortage of talent either! Also, it was my first time turning on carpet and I gotta say, I kinda dig it!!
Huge thanks to Anastasia for inviting me, Will for all his help as well as these great pics and all the other members who helped make it a fun night!!

I spent a few minutes this morning and cleaned up the cup I turned, no sanding or finish, just a bit of chisel work. Made from red oak so it's not going to hold water..
