The first ever Ottawa Turnfest just wrapped up and what an absolutely incredible weekend it was. So many good friends, tons of amazing talent and plenty of woodturning legends. Huge thanks to , Malcolm Zander, Murray Cameron and Bart Poulter for hosting the event, Elizabeth Weber , Dale Larson and The Artliest man, Art Liestman for their incredible demonstrations and all of the wonderful folks who helped organize the event.

I'd also like to shout-out all of my awesome friends who helped make it a fun filled weekend, my main man Dean , the venerable Dave Bell , the legends Jim Williams and Frank Didomizio , the lovely Bill and Lilian , the incredible Charles Jordan and Andy Ditomaso , the wonderful Will Armstrong and my new bffs Larry , Michael and Jen . If I missed anyone or missed their tags please drop a comment so I can update!

I spent yesterday evening making friends with friendship cups at the Toronto Woodturners Guild TWG. They were such a wonderful and engaging bunch of folks. Lots of great questions and no shortage of talent either! Also, it was my first time turning on carpet and I gotta say, I kinda dig it!!
Huge thanks to Anastasia for inviting me, Will for all his help as well as these great pics and all the other members who helped make it a fun night!!

I spent a few minutes this morning and cleaned up the cup I turned, no sanding or finish, just a bit of chisel work. Made from red oak so it's not going to hold water..

I just got to spend the day with these incredible folks!!! If you don't know who they are they're the wonderful family behind , Bill, Chantelle and Celine. They invited me to demonstrate turning a flat bottom bowl for one of their demo days at the store. Despite the dreary weather there was a really great turnout, some good food and some wonderful company. Lots of folks from my guild were there to show their support as well as quite a few friendly and familiar faces. I know I had a great time and I think Bill enjoyed his new bowl. Just wanted to extend a huge thank you to the amazing folks at William Wood-Write and all of the wonderful folks who turned out to make it a fun event.

I turned a couple of these lil guys for hands on night at my guild yesterday but I gave them both away. So here's my usual little supplementary post for those who stuck around. We're not really supposed to sand while demonstrating so only the cap got a quick touch up.
