Putting out a huge hit record creates a lot of pressure. Often it’s a debut album where the artist has had an entire lifetime to craft a collection of songs. Then they’re expected to released an equally brilliant follow up in 24 months. They rarely succeed. Below are a few examples where an album came out and landed with a thud - either the band lost their way or the record was too long and overblown. Some of these albums have been reevaluated over the years (like Tusk) while others remain mostly forgotten or detested.
