THE OLDER I GET, THE LESS I KNOW.
We are raised being told what is true and what to believe, often long before we're old enough to question any of it.
But then we live. We experience. We meet people whose lives are completely different from our own. We listen to their stories, hear about their beliefs, and sometimes something we were absolutely certain about doesn't seem quite so certain anymore.
Someone can say one simple thing to me, share an experience, or explain how they see something, and suddenly I find myself thinking, Wow, I never looked at it that way.
It doesn't mean I have to agree. But it might make me think and question my own personal beliefs.
We judge people without ever knowing them, without having a clue what it's like to see the world through their eyes. We haven't lived what they've lived, seen what they've seen, or experienced what they've experienced. We weren't raised with the same teachings, beliefs, or ideas about what we were supposed to believe.
Our lived experiences shape so much of who we are and what we believe, but no two people have lived or experienced the exact same thing.
Keep talking to each other, listening, asking questions, being open to perspectives beyond our own, and never be afraid to change your mind.
The moment we become absolutely certain that the way we see the world is the only way it can be seen, is the moment we stop learning, stop growing, and stop truly seeing at all.
